Newman was a British Dixieland Jazz Pianist. His namesake band had one big hit "Something in the Air" which can still be heard on Classic Rock radio and features his distinctive Piano solo. Pete Townsend of The Who helped form the band, produced the record, and played Bass on their recordings. Guitarist Jimmy McCulloch who died in 1979 was a member of Paul McCartney's Wings after leaving the band. Drummer/Guitarist Speedy Keen who passed away in 2002 and wrote the hit song was Pete Townsend's Chauffeur. He also wrote "Armenia City in the Sky" the lead off song on The Who Sell Out album.
