Ross Brown
Anyone ever play Monster Mash at a gig? How did it go over? Everyone sing along? jeremy c
Once a a Halloween party. It went over just fine, but nobody sang along. I do like that song. Almost as much as Wooly Bully. Free download of my cd!.
Flemtone
We did it for years at our Halloween gig. My dad got a lab coat and a large jar that he filled with fluid and a rubber prop brain. He would sing the song while we backed him up on the 'Ah-wooo - and-a-Shoop's. After he passed away in 1995, we decided not to do it any longer to keep the memory of his performances as unique, but it still gets talked about at our Halloween gigs to this very day. It's a lot of fun introducing a new audience to a song we knew as kids, though. Play. Just play.
butcherNburn
They know that they're an ugly couple. So much so they even refer to their lovemaking as "doing the Monster Mash" If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing!
Bottom End
The full album I owned also had The Transylvania Twist an upbeat number. as well as Me and My Mummy which is definitely a slow dance for you and the girl ghoul of your dreams screams. "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song. jcadmus
Almost as much as Wooly Bully. Used to do a sick version of this in a blues band I was in years back. I know, right? One night a rehearsal, it just came out. "Tours widely in the southwestern tip of Kentucky"
b5pilot
Yeah We used to play Monster Mash at Halloween gigs. Went over ok. Don't recall anyone ever singing along though. Used to play Wooly Bully occasionally at gigs also. Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it. http://www.myspace.com/theeldoradosband
Richard W
We've played Wooly Bully exactly one time. We've got a gig coming up on Oct 30--a private party--and thankfully the host did not request we learn Monster Mash. "Everyone wants to change the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves."
