RalphM
I finally got myself an acoustic-electric bass. It is very nice and has acoustic guitar style bronze strings. What would happen if I put regular (i.e. round wound steel) bass guitar strings on it? Thanks Ralph
b5pilot
Most likely nothing. Currently I have D'Addario Chromes flatwound strings on my Dean 5 string ABG and other than a slight adjustment to the truss rod there have been no problems at all. Personally I dislike the phosphor bronze strings on a ABG. Love them on a 6 string acoustic guitar though. Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it. http://www.myspace.com/theeldoradosband
jeremy c
I think the bronze strings are louder if you use the bass unplugged. Free download of my cd!.
Bob Gollihur
I think the bronze strings are louder if you use the bass unplugged. +1 They are odd instruments IMHO, playing the bronze strings with a pick is the best choice if you are playing without an amp. OTOH, I found regular bass guitar strings made it sound very much like a slab. Thomastik's very expensive fine wire wound strings are more acoustic sounding, at least on my fretless ABG. 1000 Upright Bass Links, Luthier Directory, Teacher Directory - http://www.gollihurmusic.com/links.cfm - Life is too short for bad tone -
