Live monitors - floor or pole?

before I make any recommendations let me ask a few simple questions

Not sure I need any recommendations - the sound was simply much better with the speaker on a pole. I was mainly curious what others who have engaged in similar comparisons have found.

I'm glad to answer your quesions anyway, though! :thu:

1). When you say 'monitor', is this your personal monitor (just so you can hear yourself) or is this a band monitor (so you and the band can hear you) or is the way that everyone (you, band and audience) hears you?

2). Do you play standing or sitting?

3). Do you sing?

4). And if you sing, do you face the audience or do they see your side?

1) Band/audience monitor. When on the floor, I've been tending to take a tap off the thruput and feed it to the PA, turning it up just a touch in the PA so the highs were more audible to the band and audience. When it was on the pole, I didn't feel the need to take the tap.

2)Standing.

3) Yes. I use a TC Electronic Voice Solo mounted on my mic stand as a vocal monitor.

4) About a 30 degree angle in towards the center of the stage.
