His 1970's album, Reach For It, was a big influence on me. The list of his own albums is four pages long. He also played with Sonny Rollins, Cannonball Adderley, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke, and Jean-Luc Ponty, just to name a few. I don't know if any of you remember the song, Let's Hear it for the Boy, by Deneice Williams. George wrote the song and played everything on the recording. Free download of my cd!. Danzilla
What a loss. I loved his work on John Scofield's albums, too. "Am I enough of a freak to be worth paying to see?"- Separated Out (Marillion) NEW band Old band
jeremy c
What John Scofield albums? I thought it was the other way around: Scofield was in George Duke's band. Free download of my cd!.
Danzilla
I know he played some leads on Sco's Blue Matter and Loud Jazz albums; may have done some others as well. I used to play the heck out of those when they came out. Must revisit (and catch up on his newer stuff). jeremy c
I love those two Scofield albums. There's a third one with that band also. It's called Pick Hits Live. Mr. Duke only played on the Loud Jazz album, not the others. Free download of my cd!.
