I got the American Standard with the 60's custom shop pickups and really enjoying it. It's been over 25 years since I've owned a Fender and a passive bass. It caught my eye because it didn't have the typical Fender glossy finish, not even a glossy top coat. Just stained with a thin lacquer finish. Plays, looks and sounds gorgeous. Fantastic neck. I love it. Even nicer than my 2008. It must be love.
