I always thought it would be cool to be able to use a laptop's display as a primary monitor for a desktop - laptops are usually more portable than a regular monitor. This might work that way. Then again, you could always use a remote control software like pcAnywhere, Windows Terminal Services or VNC (freeware) to control a desktop with a laptop through a network connection. If you use a crossover network cable, you should be connected without needing a hub or switch. I may try using VNC and a crossover network cable the next time I have to do an offsite recording session (my DAW is tower-based and not laptop-based).
