I kind of like "half-stacks"- that is, an amp-head with one speaker cab- more than a "full-stack" with two cabs. Or, two "half-stacks", instead of one "full-stack".

And, I usually like "straight" cabs better than the "slant" ones.

With one cab, the speakers get pushed just a little harder (which I like). And not only is there a little less sheer volume, it's not as "in your face" as it is when that slant-cab up on top is beaming all that volume at your head and reflecting it off the ceiling...

And then, there are the Sleeze-Stacks... ;)

Ehrr... Sleestaks... :freak::D

IT is my dream (and on my bucket list) to play through three 100 watt full stacks, the classic Hendrix/Beck/Townshend setup, just because I want to.

In the meantime, I just can't see a need for someone who isn't playing stadiums and arenas to use a full stack. Even a half stack is probably too much for most places. You can't turn them up loud enough for the amp to start working the way you want it to, not without receiving a lot of complaints from band members, club owners, etc.

I'd love to be able to use a half stack, but a 30 watt combo is pushing ti in the clubs I play.

Bon chance, mon ami, and welcome aboard.

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

and what I like even better because it's a wee bit smaller even and still looks killer.

The first time I tried to move a 4X12 by forcing it into the back seat of a two door Dodge Aspen was my last. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n94/1hch1/facepalm-1.gif Sold.

With the gigs I play, a 4X12 is over kill. I only use combos, 1X12s, and 2X12s now.

Good luck with the transportation of your full stack. ;)
