Aria IGB and AVB Basses?

So, I found a friend who let me play his Ibanez SR-300 for a little while. Overall, a good bass. I liked the electronics, and I liked the build quality. BUT... my combination of meaty palms with short fingers didn't exactly receive any favors from the SR's very slim, narrow neck. Keep in mind that my main axe is a cheap P-bass facsimile.

As a result, I started scouring the internet for an alternative, and I found THIS. Now, my local Guitar Center didn't carry any, so I didn't get to try it out first-hand. But, its feature set is VERY similar to the SR-300 that I got to try out.

When I looked for reviews, I found a TON on the Aria SB-1000 (the choice of my favorite metal bass player... some guy who played for this really obscure group called "Metallica")... but not so many on the less-expensive Arias. Seeing as how the return policy is pretty good, and the price is fairly low, I might risk purchasing it sight unseen, IF someone can vouch for the build quality and neck feel-- it doesn't have to be P-bass "meaty", but I definitely need something that fills out the hand a little better than the Soundgear.

Any experience or opinions?

i looks like one of many asian made basses that are all decent and that do not stir my loins. i'd recommend more patience, but i could hardly ridicule your decision if you get one.

I thought the old Aria pro basses were pretty nice so I don't see why the other Aria basses wouldn't be the equally as nice. I seem to remember the necks of the Aria pros being kind of narrow though so if you can you may want to try one out first.

Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it.

Metallica is the only band with a bass player who used Arias exclusively. The guy with Duran Duran did too.

Now you're in some fast company...

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

My 2006 Schecter Diamond Elite-4 has a nice fat neck. Its been replaced in the US by the Stiletto Elite-4 , but I'll bet the neck is the same. Its very similar to the Aria and the ESP/LTD pictures above. You might want to contact the manufacturers or dealers to get the radius of the necks.

Wow, speaking of Schecter basses-- I think this is a jaw-dropping BEAUTY!

Definitely multiple steps up in price from the Aria, but it's a dark, seductive bombshell-- I especially love the Translucent Satin Black finish!

I do like that finish - other than that it's pretty generic SR/Thumb/Stilleto/Taurus lookin to my eye.

I'm with robb. Slow down and do some hands on shopping.
