Big Daddy from Motown
I've been using the DR Hi Beams on the P and Jazz. Sunbeams on the fretless Jazz. La bella's on the "Funk Machine" P bass. Just got some Jonas Hellborgs to try out, now which bass should I put them on?
Switch hitter
try the P. Seems like a good candidate for the jonas hellborgs.
chip6
Roto ld66's (including 666's). Nothing but. Even filthy and dead, they outdo anything else. I went through a period where I tried a bunch of other brands (Markley, D'Addario, etc.). Nothing else lasted as long (and I Work). Thump, spank, within a set, the only choice. It's all in your attack and right hand position, the main thing I learned from Jaco. I concede Jamerson used flats on his Precision, but I have read that the O'Jays Money was that Roto sound flatpicked on a Pre as well. And I am to a degree a prog rocker, and the likes of Chuck Rainey are going to disagree with me. But I am in the end, just me, loving what I do. George Smed
GHS Boomers are the only strings I can't seem to break. Plus they seem to last the longest in brightness and cleanliness. Since moving to Lima, no music stores carry them in town. (We only have two music stores, one is an overpriced Jesus shop and the other is just a little store in a small neighboring town.) When I buy from the local music shop it's always Ernie Ball lights. (I still seem to snap them though) "Music was my imaginary friend and Frank Zappa was it's father."
