Strategery
OK...I've got a 2 year old Dell Inspiron and the battery will only last about 30 minutes MAX and then you just about can't make it to the AC plug in before it shuts down. My battery light is flashing green-orange-orange. I'm sure I need to get a new battery so I wanted to ask you guys..... *Where do you get your batteries from? I went to Durcell Direct dot com and they seem to be cheaper with a 1-year warranty. BUT.... *I also went to Laptop Battery Depot dot com and theirs is about $50 dollars cheaper WITH A CLAIM that their batteries are a HIGHER quality and that they MFG their own batteries. Shipping is FREE and their batteries come with a 2 YEAR Warranty. So what do you guys think? I need a battery. Thanks in advance! Randy "Just play!" The Geoff
Check out the power available - I've discovered there's 2 available for my T43 - one's a 6 cell and the other's a 9 cell. The 9 cell obviously lasts a lot longer. (mAh). G. Zuben
2 years use of a laptop battery is pretty good. Damn good. Most start showing signs of going downhill after a year. Some one mentioned and 9 cell. 9 Cells is better. I have no idea where the laptop companies come up with their battery times. It must be turned on with no programs running and left alone. My current Toshiba advertised battery times of over 2 hours. With a fresh battery the most computing time I have got is about an hour. Professor Monkey
One suggestion is that you should charge your battery overnight the first time you get it. It help extends the battery life supposedly.. ( I still think its a myth because Lithium Ion batteries have no memory unlike NiCads..) Zuben: I can get 2:30 hours on my mac.. Its 2 years old
Zuben
2+ hours is dang good. What screen size. I found the larger the screen the faster the batery drains. Strategery
I've got a 17"er I think. It's wide screen. But the battery time used to be a lot longer and I ALWAYS let the battery go all the way down before I put it back on charge. Man, I hate battery memory. What a load of crap. Randy "Just play!" Professor Monkey
Lithium Ions shouldnt have battery memory anyways. I always leave my laptop charged or charging as much as possible.
