tarkus
Can the D-Beam on a Roland Instrument translate into non roland gear, via midi? Example: If I midi up a Roland SH505 Out to a MEK, will the D-Beam modulate the MEK?
Bill H.
I'm pretty sure it does with cc's as long as you have the transmit switches enabled in whatever mode you are in. But the D-Beam also does a lot of other things, like manipulate arpeggios and control it's own dedicated monosynth. I'm not sure what happens then. YOu might want to check with the guys over at Rolandclan. http://forums.rolandclan.info/index.php
RABid
I'm not sure about the SH505 specifically, but on my FantomX I can set the CC of the D-Beam and it will transmit over MIDI to my Virus TI tabletop. Sven Golly
Okay, you mentioned the Handsonic... I d/led the manual for the HPD-15, and on p.103 it shows that the D-Beam transmits as General Purpose Controller 6 (CC 81) General Purpose Controller 6 (Controller number 81) Status 2nd byte 3rd byte ------- --------- --------- BnH 51H vvH n = MIDI channel number: 0H - FH (ch.1 - ch.16) vv = Control value: 00H - 7FH (0, 127) * The HPD-15 tramsmits a value corresponding to the position of the d beam controller. * This is transmitted only on the channel which is assigned to the pad part and the percussion parts. * Transmitted when the HPD-15 is in play for pattern in which this message is recorded. Hope this helps.
