FP4 & FP7 use same samples as RD-700SX "Superior Gand"

The FP7 and FP4 "Grand Piano 1" are based on the same samples as the "Superior Grand" piano in the RD-700SX. The difference is that the RD-700SX produces them with a greater clarity.

I describe the sound of the "Superior Grand" as a piano timber that is fundimenetaly dark in tone but at the same time has very noticeable bright resonant overtones.

There is doesn't seem like much difference between the FP7 and RD-700SX actions. I have discovered that the FP4 action has a faster key return. Try doing one note trills on the FP4 then on the FP7, RD700SX, Kawai or a Yamaha, be sure to play with the sound on. Somehow, the way the FP4 works dynamically in the context of the whole package, I give it an A+ for musicality. Technique of the hands and the physical action of an instrument are one thing, but music mainly comes from our mind and we impose that on the piano, and this instrument seems to facilitate that mind-muscle-instrument synergy, so I guess I shouldn't care how it comes about. I simply feel like more of my musical mind gets directly through without impediment on the FP-4.

The FP4 weighs 33 pounds and has built in speaker monitors, the keys vibrate a little when playing. The FP7 weighs 53 pounds and the RD-700SX weighs 54 lbs.

Thanks for the link. Really good info. The SonicCell looks great. I know the acoustic piano is the same between the FP4/7 and the RD700SX. Is the main Rhodes the same in the RD700SX, FP7/FP4 and SomicCell. I always liked the RD700SX Rhodes, though I would still pop an SRX12 into the SonicCell.

The SonicCell looks like a must-have module.

I am not sure about the Rhodes even that I have played SonicCEll.

I have not played RD 700sx or FP 7.

Yes SonicCell is a great module I have own a Roland Fantam XR before and I like SonicCell more it has some great new sounds like the new piano,Rhodes,Jon Lord organs,Nylon guitar(600 new waveforms) and many old ones from Fantom XR and it can be used as VST.
