henrysb3 Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 These drivers were probably made by '67, or were about to be born then. I'll try to get ser. #'s. I googled jensen speaker history. Turns out a Scandanavian named Jensen designed the first moving coil speaker in the early 20th century. It was called the Magnavox, which became the brand name. He died in the fifties, but I don't know there's any connection between Jensen musical instrument speakers and that guy. Thanks for the welcome. It's kind of a welcome back. I used to be here more when SSS was next door. He not busy being born Is busy dyin'. ...Bob Dylan
henrysb3 Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 I just did another google search and came up with a cool website: vintage reference It looks like these drivers were most likely made in '66 and '67 or less likely, '56 and '57. He not busy being born Is busy dyin'. ...Bob Dylan

henrysb3 Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 This is a kind of bump to expand my question. What determines the design of a driver for open back, ported and closed speaker boxes. I've heard that the ones intended for sealed boxes may have a looser cone or surround, as the captive air acts like a spring. These Jensens have been in a ported home-made enclosure for quite a while. Would a sealed box overdampen their response? He not busy being born Is busy dyin'. ...Bob Dylan
