Hey guys, my brother started having drum lessons and his drum tutor is sponcerd by yamaha - he has told us that we can have any yamaha gear we want

so im using this chance to get a new guitar.

i dont know much about yamaha guitars, my local music shop hasnt got any so im looking to u guys.

i play mostly metal - metallica, seether, rammstein, lacuna coil, muse, bullet for my valentine. if the sound isnt spot on it dont matter i can always sell it lol

needs:

HUMBUCKERS, minimum 1 at the bridge. the others can be single humbuckers (e.g hotrail type)

vibratto/tremalo system, i love trems and at the mo i have a les paul so i dont have one

STYLE - super strat style like an ibanez JEM sorta shape with the horns

i realize this is probably be a shot in the dark but it IS going to be free so what the hell lets make the best of it.

thank you very much for any help

Alex

Yamaha makes sweet instruments, from the cheap stuff up to fine, upscale instruments.

If you go cheap, though, you'll almost assuredly want to replace the p'ups. The Pacifica is their strat style, but it isn't quite so squared off and sharp as the Ibanez RG's that are popular and from whence the JEM series originally was born.

Have you checked out the Yamaha site yet?

Actually, the RGX line looks more your style, though I see only dual HB setups Here's a pic:

Maybe the ERG, which is a lower line product.

This RGX A2 looks interesting. RGX looks with a beveled edge, hardwood top and back sandwiching a lighter wood. You have to read the web page to see what they're attempting to make a really light, acoustically active electric guitar. I want to check one out now. :freak:

That's cool of your brother's tutor to share his endorsement with both of you. Yamaha makes fantastic drum kits. :thu:

My uncle owns a music store that has a RGX A2. I would NOT suggest buying it if you are into metal.

However, I would strongly suggest giving this one a shot...

RGX520FZ. He has one of these in stock in a trans black and it is a sweet axe! Excellent construction, materials, and quality for a great price. Even better price for you, or so you say...

What a horrible night to have a curse.

in the past i have owned many Yammys

Pac 812w (twice) , 712, 721, 604, 311ms

SBG 1000, 500

AES 500, 620

RGX 721dg, 211m

all have been solid rockin guitars that covered alot of bases.

favorites were the Pacifica series, so if you want a trem i would grab a Pacifica but if trem isn't that important and you want total tone go for the RGX models listed in the other posts, seeing you don't want a single cutaway i won't even mention the AES 620.

I have a dimebucker in my Gibson, and I'm quite happy with it. Check out the invader pickup, it's pretty slick for metal also.

Also:

Bill Lawrence XL-500

EMG-81

...pretty much standards of metal.

What a horrible night to have a curse.
