picker
Congrats on getting the bass back, even if the case was trashed. I love Franken-axes, as long as the wood and hardware aren't crap. Wonder what a bass with two of those pickups, bridge and neck, would sound like... Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. I've been thinking about that, actually! I bought a spare off eBay the night I started this thread and now have a spare sidewinder (copy) hanging around the house. I think the sound would be lacking in definition, at least by modern standards. I notice Gibson itself never put out a similar model. Dr. Ellwood
Vince, when you get a chance give us a run down on how the new band rehearsals are going and what your impressions are so far! Or maybe start a new thread taking us through the progression of you breaking into a new group, there are dynamics to this and new players who are yet to jump into gigging might get some benefit out of it,or older players who have not been playing in along time but want to break back in now. http://www.thestringnetwork.com

Here's a picture of the two basses I now have. I bought the acoustic on Saturday. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/kramer_ferrington_iii/basses.jpg And here's the rejuvenated axe. This is the body. I still like the tacky unicorn picture I put on it about 22 years ago. I've contoured the sides to make it a bit more modern looking. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/kramer_ferrington_iii/body.jpg Here's the headstock and the cleaned neck. The headtock reads "Fiesta N. 19: A Self Portrait" It also features a picture of a man walking to El Paso. I was stoned at the time. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/kramer_ferrington_iii/headstock.jpg The scratchplate was loose in the case that was smashed. The nails left some holes in the body that look like the work of white ants. I have no idea how to seal them or even if I want to. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/kramer_ferrington_iii/holes.jpg Band MySpace My snazzy t-shirt empire
Guitarzan
looks good. how do you like the samick? http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
Kramer Ferrington III.
Originally posted by guitarzan: how do you like the samick? It's not BAD... it was really cheap (about US$250) and it's nowhere near as classy as the Washburn I used to have, but it's still pretty good. Action's a bit high, but that's nothing that can't be fixed. I'm starting to wonder if I couldn't use it as my main bass, maybe with one of those feedback blocker disks... I love the way you can get a really good rattle from acoustic basses. They have a lot more sounds in them than electrics ever will.
