  1. Funny - I picked it out by ear a year or so ago, but I had bought the Jon Lord Keyboards and Organ Anthology book about the same time and never actually looked at it.

I could probably put the chord structure together for you, if that would help? It would probably take a few days to get the time to finish it. Unless someone else already has something to give you.

I also have a PDF I found in an Internet search, and I"ll check to see if it is included... I think it was. I can probably dig up the link I stumbled across.

  2. Not interested in viewing via streaming, thanks. Especially pay per view. I"m old, so maybe there"s that.

TSO did their show virtually last year. The prior two years we bought tickets and planned to make it an annual thing with a group of friends.

I bought the stream last year, and we watched it with our group of friends. While the production efforts were obvious and the quality was as superb as possible given the state of technology, it was barely a fraction of a percentage as entertaining as their live show. Understandably. They did the best to do the most with the options available under the circumstances, and I commend them for that.

Maybe the younger generations are willing and able to make the streaming viable, but I"m skeptical at very least.

  3. That was an awesome watch - thanks for posting! I watched it a couple of weeks ago now, and then have pulled up lots of related content and vintage footage. Quite a remarkable band... one of my early favorites, and the first concert I saw when I was 16 or 17.
  4. You boys talk funny!

Just kidding... I had the good fortune of touring your amazing country a couple of years ago, and covered a LOT of the territory. Melbourne, Cape Otway, Port Campbell, Adelaide, Alice Springs, Cairns, and finally Sydney. Nearly three weeks and were some of the very best of my lifetime.

Glad to hear you folks are getting things under control and somewhat back to normal!

We plan on going back in a few years.

  5. Somehat related, I would almost sell my soul for Uno's Pizza of Chicago.

What a shame they closed it down... we were still up there when it did - we typically went there every couple of weeks or so while it was open, and often made it our Friday happy hour spot.

Your mention made me look it up just now to see if there are any close by down here, and I was dismayed to find that they seem to have closed all of them this side of the Rockies, and even then there"s only one in Colorado else the rest are all east of the Mississippi.

Fortunately we have some real good ones in the area, including an Italian restaurant here in town and a Numero Uno not far.

  6. Why can't you use the expression pedal inputs on each instrument. Then find one of These? The XVP-10 has two independent expression pedal outputs (TRS). I think Korg discontinued this model but if you could find one, it works great. The new version, XVP-20 only has a single expression pedal output. But still has the dual stereo ins/outs of the original XVP-10.

Yessir - I have one and it"s a beast of a pedal. I used to use it in that fashion to run my Korg TeX and Kurz SP76 for my previous band.

  7. I guess Foreigner is a bit under-appreciated, IMHO. Fell in love with them from the first album - it was one of those magical first drops which came out with a bang side one song one, and they continued to generate awesome evolutionary material for each of their first four platters (again IMHO, of course)..
  8. If you watch closely, you will likely find a K2 for half the original price. I bought my first K2 73 off of Reverb for just over $2000, and it wasn"t even broken in. I decided I wanted another for rehearsals and found a K2 88 locally on CL last March for about the same, also nearly unused. Due to challenges syncing data between the 73 and 88 layout, I sold the 88 and found another K2 73 again for the same price range, and again not even broken in.

The Kronos is a beast, and it will take the normal player years to explore and master all of its capabilities, even now 10 years after its initial release.

I"d encourage you to give it serious consideration. While the Nautilus is brand new, it is not a Kronos replacement IMHO and, for me, there"s no substituting the convenience and functionality of the control surface.

  9. However these days my process looks somewhat like this:

    1. Try and find a tutorial on YouTube. If it's good, that will generally be all I need. However I only get lucky about 20% of the time.

    2. If no tutorial available and the part is sufficiently complex, I'll try and find a downloadable sheet music version. These are rarely 100% accurate but still helpful.

    3. If 1. and 2. are not available or need supplementing, I'll just listen to the studio recording.

    4. If the keys are buried too low in the mix on the studio recording (confronting this issue right now as it happens) I'll look for live versions on YouTube.

    5. If I'm still struggling to pick the part out I sometimes use karaoke-version.com and isolate the keys track. Again it's rarely 100% accurate but can move me a long way in the right direction.

    6. ALWAYS cross-reference everything with my own ears.

Similar to my approach, except I start at 3, then 4, then 5, then 2 and lastly 1.

  10. OS is on the SSD. Kronos comes with restore DVDs. If you put a new SSD into a Kronos, you can connect a USB DVD drive and restore that way. (Though 10 years from now, a USB DVD drive may not be the easiest thing to find...)

It is also quite simple to clone the original SSD (to a much larger SSD even), as long as it is functional. Then the original drive can be stored away should it need to be employed again for cloning due to a drive failure.

  11. That projected price doesn"t make any sense for a 'Kronos lite'. Especially after the recent price drop. And I think you can get a lightly used second-hand Kronos (2, 61 keys) for about $2000.

K2 61/73/88... there are great deals to be had if one is patient and keeps an eye out. I got my first mint K2 73 for just over $2k a little over a year ago, bought a mint K2 88 in March for the same, then sold it and bought another mint K2 73 in June for the same price point. Every one of them were barely broken in, at most.

  12. Looks like the Nautilus lost the numeric keypad and faders of the Kronos. Yeah, I know, 'Let the bitching begin!'

Huge thanks to KCSawzallSlinger for grabbing the info and posting it here. :2thu:

Definitely thanks for grabbing the info before it was pulled and posting the data!

Not going to bitch myself, but no physical faders would be a non-starter for me regardless what they did in the UI. This won"t be a replacement for my two K2s. I eagerly await news of a real Kronos replacement, and as conjectured above figure this would be a niche board to fit in a slot. In the mean time, I"m satisfied to continue to use my K2s into perpetuity.
