  1. Thanks for all the useful advice . I have some spare time this weekend to experiment with theses useful suggestions and will let you know how I get on
  2. This is very interesting synthaholic and mathofinsects . Mixing sounds is so subjective . My aim was to get more bottom end from the space station keyboard amp and I have achieved this . However in doing so I am struggling to balance the rest of the sounds I am used to hearing . I am so relieved to have achieved one aspect of the desired sound that I am not sure I can trust my ears for the rest . I need to borrow other musicians ears !! Just so I am clear . Are you suggesting that I leave the basic settings in the amp at 12 o'clock (mids and hi) , but on the mixer set the mids to. 12 o'clock and turn down the hi from 5 o'clock to 2 o'clock and turn down the bass from 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock ? Is that what you would suggest as the starting position and then if it still lacked bass ,add more ? Or would you reduce the hi 's and mids further still ? This is great information by the way and much appreciated .
  3. Hi synthaholic . No I didn't misspell the mixer . Here it is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-UB802-Eurorack-Mixer/dp/B0002JF5CM I play the korgpa1x arranger keyboard and you need the treble to hear the hi hats more clearly with the mix of drums , bass and guitars plus keys . I am still experimenting with the sound though . It's a lot trickier trying to get the sounds overall dialled in as well as for playing straight keys . How it sounds at home may be another matter once I set it up at church. I can't play at serious volume at home but will give real world feedback shortly . Your basic amp settings are different yo mine as mine are al set at 12 o'clock . But I will try your settings later this morning and see how I like the sound.
  4. Hi folks I just wanted to update everybody on my progress in trying to achieve a more fuller bass sound from my keyboard through the CPS centrepoint stereo amp. I don't know why I resisted having a mixer in the chain of my set up for as long as I have. I have added a Behringer eurorackub802 mixer that I found in my storage trunk I knew I had kept for some years. I connected some stereo cables from out of my left and right out of the keyboard into the mixer and then another set of stereo cables from out of the mixer into the space station keyboard amp. I have the settings on the amp all set at 12 o'clock and on the mixer I have the base knob at about 3 o'clock, mids at 1 o'clock and the treble at 5 o'clock . It's very much closer to the sound I wanted to hear. I don't think I will need to buy an additional bass amp at this stage. However I don't play loud levels as for the most part I play for church services where there are maybe 400 to 500 people but they have come to listen and so I don't have to compete with background sounds of people talking and drinking and eating. There are also plenty of walls for the sound to bounce from and so it fills the auditorium at medium volume quite easily. Thanks for all the help from everybody. I can't wait to play my new set up live at more loud volumes. My only concern is that I may blow the speaker but we will see . Thanks again everyone
  5. Thanks for all your responses. I recognise the specialness of the CPS amp. And it is its uniqueness that attracted me to it in the first place and why I am still 70 to 80% happy with what it does. I know that there probably isn't an amp in this class that can do what I want to do to get me to 100% without compromise elsewhere that I wouldn't be able to tolerate. Thanks Aspen for all your assistance. You're correct I plugged my keyboard directly into the amp with out a mixer in the chain . I will see if adding a mixer can get me some more bottom end out of this amp. Thanks again everybody.
  6. Ok thanks for the advice folks . Will order the Galllien Krueger amp . Cheers
  7. I don't have any confidence really when it comes to electronics. but it is a very interesting suggestion . Is it fundamentally a difficult thing to replace the 8 inch speaker with say a 10 inch and would the cabinet be able to accommodate it ? If I could find someone to do that hypothetically , would they have to consider any other ramifications and if it didn't work, how easy would it be to put the SS back in the original configuration ?
  8. Ha ha thanks rofox . I hear you however I have to consider my boot space and set up and break down . At the moment it's one trip to the car and I stil have all 4 passenger seats for my wife , daughter and two singers . If I get another amp , it's at least two trips to the car and extra time to set up and break down and I will have to lose at least one seat in the car . No jokes about strapping one passenger to the roof ha ha !. Tried that .... Wife wasn't impressed
  9. Thanks Tim . I thought that might be the case . Unfortunately I want to try and limit the amount of stuff I need to carry with me to my venues and places of worship and limit the amount of time setting up and breaking down my kit . Introducing an additional amp is probably not the best solution for me at this point . It's shame really as i like the cps for all the reasons previously spoken of . It's a shame the 8 inch woofer speaker doesn't have any more woof !! I have owned stereo systems with the same size woofer and smaller that seem to handle the weightier bass notes much more fully and I am not sure why the cps 8 inch woofer sounds as inadequate as it does . I am open to anymore all in one preferably stereo type amps the good folks here might wish to suggest for my needs. Thanks again for responding .
  10. Hi rofox . Thanks for your suggestion . Are you saying that I should use the Gallien-Kruger MB112 bass amp instead of the space station amp or as well as the space station amp ?
  11. I have owned my space station for over a year now and have used it in church services and worship environments for audiences of between 30 -450 people in band settings , rehearsals with my vocal group and in one man band setting as I own the korg pa1x arranger keyboard . Like have waited a year to put it through all the scenarios I use my keyboard for before adding my comments to this amazing thread . First of all the positives of this keyboard amp are that it has a small footprint and is loud enough for virtually any circumstance that I have found myself in as a church musician. When playing in a band or choir rehearsals the amp is adequate for my needs and the main purpose I purchased it was for the stereo effect. It lives up to its reputation in every respect concerning this and I am still amazed that this stereo sound permeates everywhere in the audience . There is no other stereo amp like this in the marketplace that I am aware of that is as impressive . However over the last 12 months I have been trying to accustom my ear to the lack of bass response and sadly just can't . I purchased the amp because I did not want to have to carry backbreaking equipment in a small family size car to the various places I play . Father Time unfortunately has taken its toll on my back . It was the manageable weight and and the small footprint of this amp appealed to me. Unfortunately a good 40% of what I do musically involves using my arranger keyboard in arranger mode . And this is where the amp is at its weakest because of its lack of bass response. I have read of the various solutions to this which inevitably mean purchasing another amp in addition to this one. This defeats the whole purpose of acquiring an amp of this size . I will definitely keep the amp as for most of the situations I use it , it's fantastic but I will definitely have to look for another amp solution in the coming months . I need an all in one solution and I was convinced the space station was it . It's was close but not close enough . However I do want to congratulate Aspen on a remarkable product and wish him the best with whatever new products are in the pipeline
  12. That doesn't sound right at all. When I first got my SSV3 I struggled to get the quality sound that I had heared other forum members talk about . You need to be aware that the amp is extremely sensitive to the quality of the stereo input at any part of the chain. In my case it was simply the cables that I've been using on my previous amp were not of a high enough quality for the SSV 3 . This did not become apparent to me until I changed the cables . Literally I replaced the cables with medium expensive monster cables ( cost £40 ) and immediately the amp sounded round and full and the pianos went from being rather harsh and thin to clear and present . I placed the amp about 8 ft from me and started to play piano and the sound came from all around me . I can only guess if you have tried all the suggestions in this epic thread , and the amp still sound bad , that you must have s faulty product .
  13. @ motifdave . If jazzoo clip was at a level of only 30percent of your rock band then maybe you need a bigger more powerful amp . There is no question that it's not perfect for everyone . But for a demo of how this amp holds its own in a blues/rock scenario that was pretty cool
  14. Most common question " how much does it cost and where can I buy one "
  15. I ordered directly from aspen . Paid shipping cost and import duties
  16. Hi folks this is only probably my second posting here . I just wanted to share my experience with the SSV3 . I believe I am the first uk owner of this amp . I own the korg pa1x arranger keyboard . Music is my passion but sadly not my main job . However I compose and arrange music for various choirs in the uk . Nothing major but it fulfils my need to create and perform from time to time . I worship at the camp hill church in Birmingham that seats sround 600 people when full . Yesterday a group I sing with performed at church in the afternoon . It was half full so around 300 people . It's a large red brick bare wall auditorium so lots of surface for sound to bounce off . When I first got the SSV3 after carefully setting it up in my living room I was concern about the bass response . You may know that with an arranger keyboard especially , the sound being produced needs to cover the full spectrum of sound and immediately to my ears the bass response was not what I had hoped for or expected. I did not want to have to purchase a sub and have to lug more gear and so was a little disappointed . I digress . Yesterday was the first time I was able to play the amp at performance levels . I had the volume set at 2 o'clock on the amp width control at just under 12 o'clock and mids just past 12 o'clock and hi's turned all the way . The keyboard volume slider was set at about 1/5 of the way . I used just the amp no mixer no sub and did not connect to the church foh . Now please bare in mind that at church the folks have come to listen and so I do not have the background noise that you might have to compete with in a bar or club . I started out just piano which sounded fine . A little bright at first until I dialed back the mids a little and it sounded much better . Not as great as I had hoped but definitely acceptable and with more experimenting I know I can get a better AP sound . The volume was plenty loud . It was easily the same level as the mic'd up grand piano a few feet away . Also I had positioned the amp about 7 feet away in the corner of the stage behind me by about 1ft -3ft. But it was such a pleasant surprise to hear the sound as though it was right next to me . The amp sounded very clear and loud in the context of the church . This was the first time I was able to position the amp far enough away from me that I could get the full benefit of the blooming effect that everyone keeps talking about. And you genuinely cannot appreciate this if you're playing at home or a regular sized carpeted room . What I especially was surprised at was the difference in the bass response when playing at performance levels and having the Amp far enough away for me to appreciate the effect of the spaciousness of the sound. I sequenced a song on the keyboard that would be used to perform with my vocal group . I played a Rhodes type sound along with the track . The track had bass , horns strings rhythm guitar drums and a Hammond type organ . The vocals went through the front of house system. There are 8 singers in my group including myself . For me it's all about the overall sound and like others I was not completely overjoyed by theAP piano by itself however In the mix it sounded great . My brother is the sound engineer for the church and he was at the back of the church probably 40 feet away and he could not tell where the sound was coming from and kept looking to see what Amps were on the stage and could not see my little amp tucked away in the corner. The Rhodes sounded blissful . I knew the organ would sound great but it was especially nice in the mix . This was a really great endorsement of the sound this amp produces. I am very satisfied with the amp all by itself and am relieved I don't need a sub for my purposes . Thanks for a great amp Aspen . I took a chance on buying this product direct from you and despite my initial reservations that I expressed to you privately I am very much grateful for you perseverance with this product over the years . It's an answered prayer for me .
  17. Fabulous news ! I can't wait to be the first uk owner of this bad boy !
  18. It's a good problem to have in that the demand has outstripped supply . Trust me it's worse the other way around !
  19. That's ok Aspen. There are not enough innovators out there and plenty of imitators ! Do your thing and we will just have to be patient until the product arrives . I would much rather things were different but I have been a small business owner too and sometimes stuff just happens beyond your control . This seems like a great product and will be worth the wait . Have a great Christmas sir .
  20. Is it possible that there was a problem with the unit you recieved ? It would be interesting to see if this was just a one off or if other users had the same issues .
  21. Unfortunately it is only being sold by Aspen direct or Sweetwater both based in the US. There is no uk retailer that carries this board .
  22. Hello folks. I am new here and this is my first post. I have been avidly reading about this new keyboard amp . I'm very keen on purchasing this amp based upon the reviews that I have read from actual musicians using version 3 .however I live in the UK and I was wondering if anyone from the UK or from Europe has bought one of these amazing keyboard amps and whether or not there has been any difficulty in rewiring the amp to convert to 230 V as the European standard ? I am not an experienced electrician and I wanted to know if anyone had already done this or if this was just too much of a risk to take . Thanks in advance for your help
