  1. Last night I used the SS on top of a KT-80 (with a blown tweeter) at a bar gig and loved it!. Only organ sounds were used from my SK2; everyone was impressed with the sound. It was a trio (organ, alto sax, and drums-jazz/funk/groove). I was heard loud and clear; the high end screams and the V/C is so distinct. I noticed people looking towards the band when I would use the Leslie and three times more people commented on how sweet the Hammond sound was. I guess the supertweeter and the use of three amps gives that incredible clarity. I'm as impressed with the clarity as I am with the stereo. The squabble was the best I've ever heard from a clonewheel. I love this amp!
  2. If you want to hear it in Wilmington NC I'm playing Friday the 24th from 6-10 at St. Thomas Preservation hall for a fundraiser--dress nice. Saturday the 25th from 10-1:30 at the Duck and Dive--drink beer.
  3. If you like stereo effects and sounds then you should be very happy with it. It really is like being in the sweet spot all the time. And actually I think it is under priced for what it does. Even if it was mediocre stereo get me that for $600.
  4. No better service, just got off the phone with Aspen and he will ship a new one today or tomorrow. SW was certainly willing to ship a replacement too but is out of stock. So, order with confidence-- Aspen and SW will make sure you are happy! I gotta practice, later.
  5. If it works over at UNCW I'll be getting one of those! But now I've noticed a 'click' noise from the unit about every 15 minutes. And I think a jack-a-lope is living in it.
  6. I called SW and will receive a new unit in the next batch. This one sounds great when you play it but just hums when it is 'quiet'. Since I teach there can be a lot of 'quiet' time. I will take it to work and see if she hums. Nothing else has hummed at my house but I do have reef aquaria (water pumps, high power lighting) so taking it somewhere for a check seems like a good idea.
  7. I tried other outlets but will carry it to the university where I teach soon.
  8. never mind, I didn't read every word lol... did you try a ground lift? Ground lift made no difference. Unfortunately the noise is enough to be a deal breaker for me. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. I love everything else about the SSv.3. Mine is quite, sounds like you may have a defective unit,, bummer, I know, but contact your dealer It is the 8in speaker humming/buzzing a Bb.

  10. Anybody else have one that hums a Bb? Even with nothing connected to it and the volumes down. Any thoughts?
  11. So my SS v.3 arrived today from Sweetwater. Came while I was teaching privately so that kid got the candy! I've only played with it for 30 minutes or so. I am a jazz/groove Hammond player with a SK2/XPK-200L and I mainly want this to give me a great Leslie effect. The SK2 has a great Leslie sim especially in stereo. First, this is a solid build and properly shipped! Really impressive and simple in a good way; no superfluous knobs or functions. The speakers are incredible, the best 8in speaker I've ever heard. The low notes are stronger than the 100hz would leave you to think. Bass notes are strong enough to cover a walking bass line for jazz in a small room. Without the stereo effect this is still a great amp for a keyboard, very clean and warm. I've been practicing in a great stereo field by setting my PA speakers on either side of me, also I like to have a Presonus Stereo Blue Tube preamp to warm the sound. I left the Blue Tube running and connected the SS v.3. I set the SK2 EQ flat-its a strong, useful EQ too. Great sound but a little hissing/noisy. So I removed the preamp and WOW, this amp was made for the SK2! The SK's leakage, drive is so much better with the SS. A lot more of the sound the Vent gives as far as I can tell from youtube vids. 888000008 has more breath than any other set up I've used. The Leslie is great just like being in the sweet spot in stereo but everywhere, at once. I like the Width set at 2 o'clock and am still experimenting with the Mid and Supertweeter settings which are powerful. My only detraction is that as you add Width you get more hiss but its not too much for most performing. Overall, I am very impressed and will write more as I find more.
  12. I'll check your porch for you, ha. Actually, mine is coming tomorrow too. FedEx is very unpredictable in my town, maybe 9am maybe 4pm. I may cancel my university classes.
  13. My understanding is that the effect is stronger if the CSS v3 is higher.
  14. October 15 has been a date mentioned by Sweetwater. I have one on order so I hope it ships tomorrow. If anyone gets a ship notification let the board know please.
  15. Thanks for all the info and keep it coming. I've had one on order for a couple of weeks. I mainly want it to make the SK2 Leslie better but as a jazz player I do not like the idea of taking two amps (a sub). Do you guys think the v3 be a good tool for me or should I look into the minivent?
  16. Thanks DoverDave. Are you playing with a bass player? Sounds like you are but wanted to check.
