I’m not familiar with that matter and we are already walking on eggshells. But I think some people are unfortunate to be born with something that makes them feel they are of the opposite sex to their biological one. As I said, I know one such guy and AFAIK he felt like that his entire life, it was not a sudden change of moods. Which makes me think it’s rather a condition that might be reversible.

Yeah, it makes sense that a less extreme fix for gender dysphoria than hormone injections, social "gender transitioning", and surgery will come along. But there will still be people with autogynephilia, etc., for whom this is more voluntary.

By the way, it's not correct that there are more than two sexes. Sex is defined by gamete size, of which there are two, namely egg cells and spermies. So intersex conditions are not new sexes.

So I have an RD2000 that I use so I am interested.  Here is what the Roland website has for information:

    UPDATE HISTORY
    [ Ver.2.00 ] OCT 2022

    Additional Function

The "V-Piano Expansion" Roland Cloud content item is now supported (non-free).
Please refer to the "RD-2000 Roland Cloud V-Piano Expansion User's Guide" for detailed information in the [ Owner's Manuals ].

    (Here: https://www.roland.com/us/support/by_product/rd-2000/updates_drivers/e1c5098a-0ec6-44bc-9595-4950dc1ea2cf/)

That's it.  I see nothing about new sounds.  Am I looking in the wrong place?

The V-Piano Expansion is the new feature, with 17 patches that I assume are variations of the same basic sound. Available for $149 from Roland Cloud. https://www.roland.com/global/products/rc_v-piano_expansion_01_german_concert/

Why??? It is a simple USB 2 cable connected from the USB B on the Blofeld to the USB A on the RD-88 a picture is not going to change that. And yes the Blofeld DOES communicate via the USB AND the MIDI ports....no, you folks think I'm talking through my arse so have at it...I'm done with this topic...it does what I need,

Well, it's pretty bloody obvious, yeah? there is no USB A port on the Blofeld,  so duh!! which USB port do you reckon I'm using!

I think the reason why people are surprised is that this is an undocumented feature of the RD-88, and it's an unusual feature on a budget board. Maybe it's an oversight by Roland?

  4. They are still trying to turn the taskbar into the macOS Dock, like they first tried with Windows 7, except you could change some settings to get the old one back there. In Windows 11 you can't have one taskbar button per window, it's per app. There is no option to have the window titles on the buttons, and you can't have small icons. So the taskbar uses more vertical space than it needs to to, especially on large screens. And it's less useful. And they removed the drag-and-drop support, for some reason.

I also don't understand the new start menu. It's like they are trying to copy phone and tablet user interfaces. But both in iOS and Android you can actually access your recently used apps if you want to, which is one feature that is not in Windows 11 currently.

  5. I put it back in the original packaging after each use, this time it's been five months since I last used it. When I unpacked it today, one key had popped out of its place. No idea how, and it doesn't want to go back down. Anyone seen this before? Do I need to disassemble the whole think to get the key back in place, or is it possible to wiggle it back in position without risk of breaking anything?

  6. I got the urge to record some music, installed REAPER a couple of weeks ago. I bought a used Novation Launchkey 49, which works fine, but seems to not get along with the USB controller, driver, or whatever on my Windows 10 PC. I have to try a bunch of times to get it work, unplugging other USB devices, trying to plug them in in various orders, etc.

So I'm looking for a replacement. I want something that is not too expensive, that can sit on my couch, my lap, or whatever. A decent action that you can use to record drums and bass, for piano stuff I can move my laptop over to my stage piano and use that. I would like to have a couple of programmable knobs, but I don't need the typical Ableton Live EDM setup or anything like that.

  7. Oh no, what a shame. So sad.

(I am a little bemused at why it was deemed journalistically necessary to include the fact that the perpetrator is a refugee from Rwanda...)

It's important information in a democratic society, simple as that. Information like that is often hidden for political purposes by the media or downplayed by politicians, etc, it's a huge problem in several European countries. But I think that discussion if pretty off-topic here... ð

  8. While it's useful to know about folk music, and the thinking that goes along with it, from different parts of the world, not much is comparable to what we have achieved with Western classical and jazz theory, and all the research that has been going on at departments of musicology around the world. It's a bit like comparing traditional Chinese medicine to what they are actually doing in Chinese hospitals today. We acquire new knowledge, then we build on that. Education in folk music is mostly for preserving national traditions, at least here in Europe. If people want to pay to get a music education, and then make EDM, fine. But that doesn't sound like something that belongs at a university to me.

Ivory Feel PHA-4 keybed. I'm on jury duty with extremely limited personal time, so can't do the comparison right now and don't remember which one that is or where it is used.

My apologies if this has been posted; I did a forum search and scrolled a page or two, but each page load takes 5 minutes so I ran out of patience after that.

I think that keybed was/is in the RD-800

The RD-800 has the PHA-4 Concert action, which replaced the PHAIII of the RD-700NX. The A-88MkII has the PHA-4 Standard action, which I suppose replaces the Ivory Feel-G action used in the original A-88, the FA-08, RD-300NX, etc.

Roland loves to use confusing naming...

  10. Not a bug, but are there any plans to switch to a different theme? This one is very... white. It's a bit rough on the eyes. And there is no horizontal seperation between the threads on the thread list page anymore.
