  1. Welcome to the Sk - series admirers club, Jazzmammal. It's an fine instrument. And, if you have questions, here you'll find the answers, mostly courtesy of JMcS (whom i hereby salute).
  2. Thanks, good to know, gotta check out that - every once in a while.
  3. Well, the Hammond pedal is just much better - in response, and as being said earlier, built like a tank. But, it's quite heavy too. If you got the bucks, buy it.
  4. Updated yesterday without any problems. As the manga-guide advices I only had to copy 5 files to the usb stick. This update really makes a big difference, once you adjust a bit to the new touch. Very nice job, H-S. Now, the next update should deal with the overdrive. Another nice thing would be the ability to switch extra voices on and off with the foot switch or damper pedal.
  5. Goldfinger - the first Bond I ever saw. Actually in Sweden, when staying with relatives there. We were about 11 -12 years old, me and my second cousin. I still remember the trailer of "Planet of the Apes" that preceded the movie. Saw that later on the telly. Not such an everlasting memory, that one. But still fun.
  6. LFO is like an LFO on a synth - you can assign one of four waveforms (Tri, Sqr, Saw, Sample & Hold) to sweep the filter. In the MANUAL mode you control the filter from the extra voice/drawbars effects amount pots, using the knob like a cutoff filter pot on a synth. The nice thing is that you can adjust the sensitivity, resonance, waveform, rate and center frequency, and save those parameters in a patch (as well as the control source).
  7. Ok. Just wondering why the Tr.Organ library is under the "Library" -button, as everything else there is user manageable. The Synth 1 - library is (mostly) not my cup of tea. That is, it is more or less a cup of tea from the 80s. But, anyway, I bought the instrument for the organ sounds.
  8. Thanks for the info. I have to delete something from the library to check out these. One strange thing is, that I'm not able to delete the (for me completely useless) Tr. Organ_VxJ bank from the library.
  9. Thanks, Wolvesparade for Your warmly welcoming words. And, yes, I've been a bit slowish on the introduction side of matters. It's beautiful here, but the weather is somewhat inconstant. Friday (Midsummers' eve, a big holiday here) we had about 25 C and sunny. Yesterday and today about 13 and some rain. Hoping for some sun tomorrow, though. Kind greetings.
  10. Hi, Maybe it's time for a short (?) introduction, since I find this forum very helpful and friendly. JE62 (first names initials & year of birth). I live in Helsinki, Finland. About here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katajanokka I started with classical piano lessons, followed by blues, rock etc. playing. I've been into jazz and bossa nova for some 15 - 20 years. Had a bit of gear over the years, but I always had to trade or sell to get new better or worse gear. Here's a list of my past gear (as far as I remember:) Hellas Figaro Lira 49 PRS Farfisa VIP 233 Viscount Intercontinental M50 Yamaha CS-5 Yamaha CP10 Yamaha SK10 Crumar Stratus Hohner Pianet Roland Juno 60 Casio SK1 Kawai K1 II Kawai K4r Rhodes 73 Stage Piano Mark II Hammond L100 Roland JX-1 Hammond XB-1 Roland FP-2 Walton 50N Yamaha C35 Hammond Sk1 The Sk-1 is my only pro instrument for the time of being - still got that Finnish-made Walton Organ in a corner. But I wish I still had the CS-5...hope my list didn't bogart this thread:) too much. Best greetings, JE
  11. Great! They continue releasing updates even after I bought the unit;) I especially like this: - Fixed issue, where the wrong custom Tonewheel number is recalled when recalling the patch with a different organ type.
  12. For cases, check out this: http://www.romanowicz.com.pl/en/klawiszowe/Hammond I got one for my SK-1. Unfortunately I bought it here in Finland and (over)paid 199 for it. Seems to cost somewhat over 100 when ordering from Poland. It's made of plywood and finished with padding and fabric. Pretty sturdy, being that light. And it fits the Sk-1 as a glove.
  13. I've been looking into this thing about having to push a fav button twice to get the tonewheel-set that is programmed in the patch. Strangely enough, the below mentioned method seems to make the fav buttons work: 1. Edit the DRAWBAR/Btype parameter and be sure to push enter, so that the parameter (Btypex)stops flashing - do not push record yet. 2. Go via the Menu/exit button back to PATCH and record the changes from the P.NAME menu Changing the Leslie type seems to require the same steps. The instructions in the manual, p.84 only seems to overwrite the Leslie presets. Sorry, but this worked only momentarily. After fiddling with the Custom tonewheels, I seem to be back in square one.
  14. Yes, I fully agree. The greater arc of travel is why I chose the Exp-50. I haven't really tweaked that much the overdrive settings yet, except for lowering the amount in some customized patches I use. Will try out the Ep-amp on organ sounds - I definitely liked it when I built a dirtyish Rhodes. Works nicely, boosting the low end.
  15. The overdrive is nothing to write home about, if you exceed certain levels, where the distortion becomes obvious. I have the Exp-50 expression pedal. It's very good, but was it worth some 118 dollars more, compared to the yc. Guess i'll never know:) However, i don't see, how the pedal could affect the quality of the overdrive.
  16. Yep, but HS should update either the organ software or the manual;)
  17. When changing from a patch using a Type1 set to a Type 2 set I have had occasions where the type xhanged but the selected set # stayed as it was and didn't revert to #1 before going to the saved set on the second press. The end result is when changing to patches using different tonewheel sets, always press the Favorites button twice to make sure you end up with the set you want. Hi, I bought a SK-1 a few days ago, and the keyboard shows exactly this behaviour. I updated the instrument with the latest system (release 4), and i don't know if this is a "feature" of the update - i didn't pay any attention to this before upgrading. I wonder if earlier versions of the system has this bug. Hopefully HS will correct this - even if it maybe isn't such a big issue. In every other aspect I am quite happy with my purchase, including the Exp-50 Expression Pedal.
