  1. Mark pm me re your time in Sydney.
  2. Welcome Endorph, and is the wind blowing or are youse crow eaters using battery powered devices ATM?
  3. Received an email from PSP announcing the release of B Scanner - a dedicated Chorus Vibrato effect. Intro price $39 - less for existing customers. I am going to get it at that price and see what difference it makes compared to the CV in Vintage B3. Based on the manual it provides a lot of options to independently tweak chorus and vibrato. With this and l'Otary PSP have the ultimate Hammond effect tweaking suite.
  4. Back on topic, MOI a rule that worked for me when I was going through something similar in a different context but involving significant emotional turmoil was not to say or put in writing to the other party anything that I would not be comfortable with if retold or shown to an impartial third party - like a judge.
  5. [video:youtube]Vy7yuj-UrNI Album this comes from after tracking down the theme music from 'The Bridge' series - another excellent programme in the current wave of Nordic Noir
  6. Very slick set up. Where did you source the right angle USB connector?
  7. Hillsong and Planetshakers are both from Australia. Both are leading edge in contemporary worship music and many US churches use their material. I forgot about the Aussies. In my mind Europe has way older culture than North America I guess I expected everything to be way more traditional. My background is Eastern Orthodoxy and we don't even have pianos in churches. To put Hillsong in context - here it is not a mainstream church, but it does raise a lot of money from its parishioners, has cutting edge studios and is very business orientated. The dominate christian religions here are Anglican and Catholic plus Methodists, Presbyterian etc. Very much like I find it in the UK. And in these the pipe organ is the dominate instrument, possibly supplemented by acoustic guitar for 'youth' orientated services.
  8. Sad to hear that Math. Dunno if it helps and it has been mentioned above but putting the kid's best interests first (in addition to being a good thing) can help in stabilizing the impact of the swirling emotions you may be feeling for some time. One other thought - it is often said that people do their best creative work when they are in an elevated emotional state. If you are into song writing and/or composition, or have entertained the idea, maybe you can use those times when you now find yourself on your own to put your feelings into music.
  9. Pianoteq recommend an i5 minimum. You need to take into account whether you will running it in stereo and the sample rate you wish to use. Pianoteq has many tweaking options. It would be a shame to compromise playability by running it on a sub optimal machine. I am not certain that it is optimised for touch screens so a tablet may not be an option. A laptop will be best solution, built-in screen and keyboard and enough USB ports to plugin an external audio interface, if required, plus controller,
  10. Lever mode - original is the update I was sweating on.
  11. L'otary 2 released. New features include extended algorithm control, output mixing controls, improved performance, advanced midi operation, revised GUI. Free for existing users.
  12. Or download the selected image, open in a free photo editor like Paint and re-size it, then upload to the site you use to host your online photos.
  13. Aspen, thank you for you for insights on maximising the signal. Just spent the past hour crudely doing exactly what you have explained into my mono speaker to tweak things in preparation for a gig tomorrow night with a loud guitar player. While I don't own an SSv3 yet, I feel obliged to buy one in recompense for the practical knowledge you have so generously shared in this thread. Have to wait though till China starts buying more of our rocks again and our dollar recovers from its current peso status.
  14. Looking forward to reading your review, also on how it compares to the XK1c
  15. Talent is knowing what you are mediocre at and not putting it on public display.
  16. Congratulations on the success of the SSv3 Aspen. Great to see the demand for this, those who agreed to take the chance on building the speakers and Sweetwater as retailer must be pleased with the outcome. Very inspiring being able to watch it unfold in this thread from first release. Leaves reality TV for dead.
  17. So hypothetically if you close micced a grand piano in a smallish performance space taking into account the SS3 max SPL, and minimised the recording of any room reflections, mixed it down stereo then played it back through the SS3 positioned in the same place as the grand piano, the SS3 should provide a more realistic reproduction of the original, for a listener in the room than any 2 box stereo.
  18. Precise L/R positioning? No, that has not been my experience. But that's not what an orchestra or an acoustic piano sounds like to me, either. One hears directional cues, for sure, but the Spacestation was not designed to replace your studio monitors when recording. This comes much closer to replicating the feeling of listening to an orchestra in a concert hall, or playing a piano in a reverberant room. There's different "stuff" happening across a broad sound field, all interacting in a sonically pleasing way. Before I go on let me make it clear I am not setting out to diss the SS3, just trying to get a better understanding of what the SS adds over mono. So if the width aural cues are not the same as conventional stereo is it more the case that the SS3 is using the stereo signal to produce an almost omni-directional mono signal?
  19. SS3 owners or Aspen may be able to share some insight on the extent that the SS3 preserves the location of various elements on the stereo stage from hard left to hard right. For example an orchestral piece played through the SS3, is the precise positioning of each instrument section location retained when played back through the SS3? Similarly is the top octave on an AP sound mostly heard from the right side speaker and bottom octave mostly from the left? - assuming SS3 controls are flat and it is reproducing the stereo image as determined by the board.
  20. 32 Lives, and to avoid dehydration while practising: Slab (24) Lowenbrau, and Case of Villa Maria Sauv Blanc - just to keep Brett's Kiwi $ from collapsing.
