  1. I had asked a similar question on another thread.
Hammond seems to blur the lines between their product specs and this makes it really tough to compare them.

I wonder how the B3 section of the XKpro compares with thw XK4c.
I’m not stuck on having “multi contacts” or anything else like that.

  2. The organ sounds pretty good.
not quite in the same company as upper tier Clonewheels BUT that’s not the purpose of this board.
I’m going to search for a similar extended review of the Numa’s organ section.
The real problem is that a “next level up board” like a YC61 or MOJO 61 isn’t a heck of a lot more money; though the CK61 and Numa both offer better portability and built in speakers for rehearsals and/or small intimate gigs.

    Decisions..decisions🤣🤣

  3. So what's the overall take between the CK61 and Numa Compact X SE?

Most important to me are the organ and piano.

(my biggest complaint with these budget keyboards is the "wall wart" external power supplies. UGH>>>>)

To clarify further: My synth needs are particular sounds I get out of MainStage and are only used for certain tribute bands I play in.

So the money and transport are not a problem and I can take whatever I want.

But for local gigs (which there are far more of!!!)  and as a good backup/supplement for my trusty Electro 5, I need organs and pianos that will cover when the Nord is doing something else.

After watching demos of the Numa, it seems more appealing to me. 88 notes and less costly.

I played the CK61 a few months ago and had mixed feelings about it.

  4. For this type of gig, I would only take one keyboard, an easy folding X stand, and the most basic pedal set up you can get away with. What I do with these things is set up the stand, and have the cords and everything ready to go do a line check with my electro, then take the keyboard off the stand and carry it like it was a “pet” lol.
but for 50 bucks? It’s not worth it. If someone spills a drink or even just bangs into it with the headstock of a bass guitar, you’re going to be a lot more pissed off then if you made two or 300 for the gig. Just my opinion…

  5. I think what the masters (Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Tony Banks and Jon Lord) demonstrated was a balance of virtuosity and restraint when needed.

Today, someone just shreds aimlessly and it’s considered “epic”.

  6. Nothing beats sitting down and actually playing something yourself. (we ALL know this)

I believe videos can only get you so far in the buying decision...

What's "too heavy" or "too shrill" for one person may be just right for someone else.

The real problem is the lack of brick and mortar stores to try these things out!!!

  7. I hope they survive.
I really love my Cobalt 8, as well as the Modal app.
If anything, I think people are apprehensive because the Modal synths are so capable of many things…and they down use the same glitzy, high tech marketing as do the bigger companies.

    The sound speaks for itself.
