Love B-3X, used the IOS version live for about a year with my Modx.   I especially like the amp/cab options with the leslies that can blend with the guitar ones.   I haven't been using it lately as my newer keyboards are "good enough" with organ to not want to hook up an ipad, and at home I'm still using Logic's organ on my mac.  I suppose I could rig up the ipad to play as an external midi device, though honestly Logic's organ sounds quite good to me so again I haven't bothered for the small amount I use organ at home.

Does the iOS version still exist?

Hammond chorus comes in three levels, C1, C2, C3.  C1 is light chorus, C2 is NORMAL chorus, and C3 is deep (heavy) chorus.  It often amazes me that people always turn on C3 then think it is over the top. Although I agree that clones often dont get this feature right (accurate) and in fact most clones are over the top, no one ever considers just backing off that depth by reducing the setting to C2 or even C1. On clones I usually start on C2 and adjust from there.  One of the reasons I use VB3-ii (Mojo) is  because I find the C/V to be the most accurate of the clones.  Guido has gotten that right quite a while ago and has made very little adjustments the C/V in a long time because it was accurate right from the get go.  Hammond XK5 also finally got it right, Mag still tweaking theirs although the latest is pretty good. Viscount still not right after many attempts. Hammond pre-XK5 was highly adjustable but not right even after adjustments. The best advice here is to back off to C2 or C1 so that it is not over exposed.

Guido’s C3 chorus was dead on from the start. One of the reasons I stuck with the Mojo for so long.

  3. My first synth was a Casio CZ-101 that I bought after I was rear-ended in traffic in my 1972 Honda Civic. My choice was to fix the bumper on a car that was already beat to hell, or take the money and buy a synth. Easy choice.

I just recently bought one on Reverb!

  4. The Hammond organ, by its very nature, is a very unforgiving instrument. You have to control the volume with a pedal and you have zero touch sensitivity. I think a lot of organ players gravitate towards chorale because it “softens” the attack somewhat and it is far more forgiving when it comes to making your lines sound in time.

With chorale, however, you sacrifice a strong, direct sound. It’s all a little washy. That’s what jazz greats like Joey D, Jimmy Smith, etc. most often played with the Leslie on “stop.” Your lines cut through much better - more like a horn player. It takes a lot of practice to sound good with the Leslie on “stop.”

Are you using the Mini Vent option in the C2?  Or the sim built into the maggie, or something else?

Mini-Vent into the MAGGIE. I’m not really a huge fan of the Vent. Been using the internal sim with my Motion Sound amp as of late.

I can’t imagine you’ll get any argument about that, especially for a drummer, iirc Sting said the same thing of Stewart Copeland. I was in a funk band years ago that fired a drummer for committing the same sin.

But I never get an uncomfortable feeling from Stewart. Palmer never settles into a pocket and his drum solo section on “Karn Evil” sounds as if he was being chased by a knife wielding Keith.
