  1. Probably, yes. The clavs are better on the Hammond, IMO, but the Roland has it beat on all the other categories you mention.
  2. I'm far too ham-fisted to attempt anything like that. It's a great job, given the challenges. My concerns would be twofold, though: a) In my experience, that sort of covering gets knocked about fairly easily. b) If it gets too tatty to tolerate, getting that stuff off, even if only to re-cover, is going to be a nightmare.
  3. BBblues could have the Dr Lonnie signature edition SK2, which had wooden end caps. I know Hal Tschushida has some wooden panels for his, too, which he obtained direct from Hammond. Not sure if they are the same as used on the Dr Lonnie.
  4. Thanks, that's sorted that problem! Now I need to get my head around the intricacies of Kurzweil set-ups
  5. Hi guys, I'm aiming to pair my SK2 with my PC361 for an upcoming project, using the SK exclusively for Hammond sound but also to control some fairly complex orchestral splits on the Kurzweil. I have them paired up and speaking (SK2 out to PC361 in) but for some reason the SK2's keys don't appear to be sending ANY velocity information. I can't right at this minute see where you turn this on or off within the Hammond's menus can anyone help, please?
  6. Yep this is mimed but according to the comments section, that was actually Phillips' own Lowrey. There's another video of someone demoing one for sale and the wah effect is demonstrated on that, so it was a stock function rather than a mod.
  7. I'm not sure how much, if at all, this trio penetrated into the US market but during the 60s and 70s in the UK, they were on TV quite a lot on various variety shows. I was too young to appreciate them first time around but just rediscovered them and my God, what a band. Roy Phillips is great organist, who actually started out on guitar for Joe Meek's sessions. Anyway, here are a couple of vids, the first is interesting in that Roy's playing a Lowrey Berkshire, as used by Pete Townsend, and I think the wah effect is built in to that model. Second is on a Hammond (model?) but also hot as hell (love the drummer's stick-twirling). [video:youtube] [video:youtube] Edit: well, they penetrated the US psyche enough for this to be used on Breaking Bad, it appears... [video:youtube]
  8. Maybe it was just his choice of registrations, but in the Martirano demos, the Numa sounds shrill and lacks warmth for my ears at least.
  9. I can't make up my mind whether this is a joke, spam or scarily serious. Either way, I have bad news for you about the resale value of your Tyros 3...
  10. Yeah, once again the old dollars=pounds ripoff is in full force this side of the pond, Tony. Same bag here about 120UKP.
  11. Possibly the 200UKP price tag? Though my NS2 bag was VERY well made. The only other problem I had with the Nord case was its stand-out colour with a very prominent Nord logo, which I felt always made it slightly more of a target for those of a light-fingered persuasion (and I'm not talking waterfall keybeds)...
  12. Thanks for that - do wish Hammond would put some audio demos by the downloads though, making it easier to assess whether it's worth messing downloading and installing.
  13. Thanks Joey, that's good to know. I already have the SK1 and looking to step up to the double manual model.
  14. SK2 owners still happy with your purchase? Thinking of copping one after Christmas...
  15. SSM, I had an EXP100F, which I used with my XK system. The EXP 50 is basically the same pedal as that but without the kick-switch for the Leslie speed. The EXP100F was built like a tank and felt very authentic compared with an FC7 (which I also own). However, unless you're a Hammond purist or you need to attach it to a Hammond pedal set (both the 100 and 50 come with their own mounting brackets for that job), I think you'd be perfectly happy with the Yamaha. Put it this way. I haven't felt yet moved to order the EXP 50 for my SK1 yet.
  16. Neil, Andertons have it on at £1299 for the 88, so exactly same price as MOXF8.
  17. Please don't add to my cleaning bill like that, Dana...
  18. Probably not, if they're keeping parity with the MOXF.
  19. The bass strings of that "acoustic piano" sound in the video are like no piano I've ever played. What the hell are Roland playing at here? At £1299 I don't think this is the flagship - this is their MOXF.
  20. And to be fair, you probably wouldn't be expecting aftertouch at this price point. MOXF doesn't have it either.
  21. Looks like these are aimed squarely at the MOXF market. Around 1300UKP for the 88.
  22. A bit of Fantom recycling going on... Clonk
