  1. No, you need a Music Man Stingray 5. Take it from me.
  2. I had an opportunity to buy a vintage fretless Fender Precision a few years ago -- a '73, I think. But it was pretty expensive and frankly it would just sit around. I don't really play anything right now that suits it.
  3. I try to get to the gig before EVERYONE ELSE for precisely those reasons.
  4. So you're saying that we don't get to blow anything up? I'm out.
  5. This is great. Thank you.
  6. Circling back on this. Anyone care to share their standard contract for local club or festival dates?
  7. I've always been impressed with the quality of Ibanez basses, across their product and price range. Their cheap basses just seem to be consistently better in terms of build and components than competing instruments. And with increases in efficiency and the evolution of Class D amps, it's an exciting time for bass players. That being said, My 45-pound Eden rack and 100-pound 4x10 still sound like total thunder.
  8. I don't own one, but I kind of like the Billy Sheehan-endorsed pedal from EBS. Been toying with the idea of getting one. https://ebssweden.com/content2/effects/ebs-billy-sheehan-signature-drive/
  9. I don't make mistakes. I make choices. Sometimes they're terrible, terrible choices. But nevertheless.
  10. I think that's the key. This particular band is reasonably popular and has a pretty good following. So I think it's a matter of asking for what they want. This is mostly academic, really (and doing homework for my new band)-- I'm just a hired gun with this outfit and this weekend is my last gig with them.
  11. Nominally. With this band, the take is usually 60 bucks and a couple beers per man.
  12. Well, yeah, obviously it has to be in the agreement in advance. I guess what I'm really asking is how prevalent this is.
  13. Question: Do you guys get paid if the venue or promoter cancels the gig? I was scheduled to play an outdoor festival yesterday with one of my bands, but we were rained out. I asked the band leader if we still got paid, and he was befuddled. Seems like the kind of detail he should have nailed in. Curious what your experience is.

  15. This is post #4999 for this thread. I think the honor of submitting Post #5000 should go to butcherNBurn since he's been the most prolific and faithful participant. Prolific and Faithful.
  16. That BnB -- he's unstoppable. He's Unstoppable.
