  1. I run our own sound using a Behringer xr-16 which feeds two Mackie 450 mains and a sub (we have QSC for our vocal monitors) - mix is great and keys are nice in the mix - We did do a festival this summer and the sound guy was horrible.. could not hear voice in monitors .. had no idea that some songs are key heavy (Doors, etc) and some are not (ZZ top, etc) ....... I have had similar "rock is guitar" experience with sounds guys and hate their apparent disdain for keys
  2. ..yes .. that plastic cap has to be aligned just right or you will have that rubbing problem ......
  3. thanks for the replies .. maybe i will give it another try - certainly will help with cleaning up the stage a bit and with cable management ... but at the end of the day, it is the sound, not the visual LOL - thanks for the advice (LOVE this forum) ...
  4. I have read the other topics on this stand, but want to make sure I am not doing something wrong here ... I just got this stand (but thinking of sending back) to replace my very old, but so far trustworthy two tier x stand .. (plan to have pc1x, xk1, and deep mind 6 on the spider) .. of the 3 the PC1x is the heaviest .. I set it up and just put the pc1x on the bottom tier (4 legs were on stable surface, etc) and just did not like the rocky "see-saw" feel when playing at the ends of the board, etc - any hints?? similar experiences ???
  5. just got one (spider pro) and returning it - had legs on a flat stable surface, but my PC1x still bounced like a see-saw on the bottom arms when playing .. very annoying ...
  6. Jon Anderson - 1000 Hands... so much better than the current YES "cover band" ... (and the recent ARW tour was incredible as well)
  7. for my band PA I used a Behringer XR18 - 3 monitors each with own mix .. 4 vox FOH, guitar FOH, sax FOH , keys (stereo) FOH .. and bass and kick when needed - run it from a laptop near me
  8. any idea on the weight (unless I missed it somewhere) - I gig with a PC1x (that I love except for the weight ) .. got an SP6, but just not working for me , so will more that likely sell it...PC4 may be a good replacement option for my gigging PC1x
  9. I tried, really really ... but can't love the SP6 for gigging like I do with my PC1x ... think it is time to sell it
  10. really trying to like my SP6 .. but having a hard time leaving my trusty PC1x .. until I put the PC1x in the SKB case after a gig and have to lift it !! ... will spend some more time with the SP6 this weekend setting up multis, etc (I make extensive use of the PC1x "multi" 4 zone setups for my gigs... have to figure how to use the SP6 , 6 "favorites" and other ways to support my needs) - maybe just a case of "change avoidance" .. will give it some more time before I decide to sell the SP6
  11. thank you !! assume that is on the Kurzweil website, so will go there and look - thanks
  12. had my SP6 a couple weeks and starting to really like - getting ready for practice and then gigs .. I have the Dave W sounds, but any idea where I can get additional (from Kurz, etc) - like the SP6, but not as many patches as my PC1x it is replacing that I had used for gig setups ...
  13. hmm - still waiting on my baackordered SP6 from Sweetwater to replace my (heavy) PC1x ... still think the SP6 is the way to go
  14. ordered mine new years eve to replace my PC1x (trying to lighten my load here) .... back ordered at Sweetwater .. hope I like the action , and think it will do all I need .. have my XK1c on top for organ (replaced a CX3 to lighten things there as well)
  15. I recently got an entry level ProJect Debut turntable and am incredibly happy - yes, not a "convenient" as Cds .. but there really is a sonic difference (much better, warmer, etc) - regular CDs are great, but try making one from over compressed itunes and your ears will bleed - at the risk of coming across like an audio snob, listening to quality music through quality speakers, etc has been lost these days I fear
  16. here is my latest band project - real good bunch of guys to jam with - would like some feedback on our demo songs below - Especially want to hear from you great key guys on our version of "Never Been Any Reason" - (was pretty excited when the singer suggested that one .. always wanted to try it !) - Synth is my Nord Lead 2, so not quite as fat as the original Moog. demo
  17. Percy Hill - Color in Bloom (thank you forum !!!) new Deep Pruple (Now What ?!) !! - surprisingly good even w/o Jon (RIP buddy) all my YES albums (ok, maybe not Union) Transatlantic - smpte Van Morrison - Live in San Fransico (all time fav !!) Miles Davis - Blue LOST - soundtrack season 4 Headeast "never been any reason" (band is doing it !! yeah, get to play some synth) Guess Who - Live at the Paramount
  18. My Pc88 had many key problems , but it was the nature of the beast (weights kept falling off, aftertouch lost, etc) .. but it still hangs in there in my practice rig LOL - My current PC1X gig rig has been going strong for years now without key issues (and I can play hard at times) .. same for my Korg CX3 (2002 ?), no key issues there either !! ...
  19. Hey -- would love to share my rig, but not quite sure how to post a pic .. any quick hints ?? - I will check the forum notes, etc as well - thanks
  20. thanks for the post and information .. I do have a somewhat Ot question .. how do you like the Motion Sound 500 ? - I currently have a KBR3d setup with my CX-3, PC1x, and nord lead .. and have been considering a move to the 500 (with a vent for the cx-3) - thanks for any input !!
