  1. Also don't post much too much anymore (life's ... errrr ... full at the mo!) but still check regularly and remain informed and entertained. And yes it's the vibe.
  2. Gosh, I've been away from the forum for too long - this stuff is great! Anyway, here's a song I've just completed. From the intro riff which had been marinating with me for years, I managed to work on and off on it and eventually got it done, except for the lead vocal, which is live. I'm sure I'll get round to doing a final mix sometime! [video:youtube]
  3. Any recommendations for fairly basic GPS watches - distance, laps, times, maybe heart rate? What do you guys use?
  4. Great stuff, strong groove!
  5. Shoot, Dave F, 18:45 is an amazing time! My fastest is 20:00 flat - but still very proud of myself. At the moment I'm really frustrated: in the summer I jumped from a very high wall (as if I were 16!) because a few buddies and I had got locked in our college having a few brewskies on a Friday eve, and security had locked up. I've been kicking myself ever since. I've found that eating correctly and running is the surest, most natural, least expensive way to keep yourself fit and healthy. Can't wait for my leg to heal fully.
  6. Now I'm mad; you guys are really messing up my afternoon cos I can't get away from this thread - lovely stuff as usual!
  7. This is the first time I've actually checked out this thread because reharm's definitely outside my remit as far as playing goes - I know my limits, see . But I've just got to hand it to you guys: you're phenomenal. I'm taking notes, so keep the education comin' now .
  8. Ow, that's real Linwood! I'm a sucker for a groove, and this one is compelling!
  9. Arranging is truly my bugbear; it actually often interferes with my completing a song. I'd love it if I was any good but, boy, can I recognise a good arrangement - here the vocal treatment, especially, is bold but restrained. Man, this is good stuff, Dave, and a worthy lesson in arrangement. [Now if only someone could show me how to make my basses and kicks play happily together in a mix ... ]
  10. Have just some dusted off some tracks and put 'em up as demo clips. Feel welcome to take a listen if you like.
  11. 7notemode, you're a keen player, man! C.Bull, ya knows I loves yo stuff - keep em comin'!
  12. WillyDavidK, I'll definitely check your stuff out this weekend. Mark, thanks for the 'non-reference' .
  13. Finally started on MySpace . Got a lot to do, including putting up newer songs but here are some samples.
  14. Hello fellow songsmiths! Whew, I'm glad I've finally managed to get to this forum (I reside mostly at the Keyboard Corner). I suppose I could call myself a songwriter, as I write songs and record them here at home with my humble setup. My influences are wide-ranging, but I'm a sucker for a great voice singing inspiring lyrics (see my avatar ). I used to do the whole musician thing full-time a few years ago, but cut down on that to work in a more 'stable' teaching job. So now I write songs and record them here at home with my humble setup, and gig solo only very occasionally. At the moment, I'm trying to setup a page on MySpace so if anyone can offer some advice as to how to upload my tunes, I'll share a few with ya.
  15. Thanks a lot for the comments and suggestions, Ted . At one point I did consider recording 2 versions of the song: this one and a more 'commercial' mix, with drums and, I suppose, more frills. As to the piano riffs, I did in fact slow the track down slightly (no quantisation though), so maybe that accounts for the mechanical feel.
  16. So, I've finally managed to get a few tunes up . Pretend - my most recent effort. The bass needs cleaning up, and BVs need to be added: http://s64.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=14KBS05KLS7GL3I1FN3GCV9Y64 Don't Want To Be Alone - this track isn't entirely complete; I still need to add extra instruments to it, as well as vocal ad-libs to the last couple of choruses: http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=103QMM5UJ98P50L4SUBLMJXONW Monika's Song - this was written for my wife when she was still my girlfriend (you'll see what I mean if you give it a listen): http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=19L2N1JBBM2YT3ME6X9C7ZN4SM Please feel free to suggest any improvements I could make to the tunes . Oh, and delete any gaps in the URL if necessary.
  17. Dave (Bryce), I'm intrigued. I'm a funk man myself and I've been reading all kinds of good things about "Woogman in the Jungle" and I can't seem to find it. Direct me, will ya ?
