  1. Today, it's DAVID CROSBY'S 76th birthday. The walrus faced former Byrd and 1/3 of CS&N probably has some great stories to recall on this day. And although I like ALL the songs on CS&N's debut LP, "Guinnevere" and "Long Time Gone" are two he wrote that were great additions. I even wanted to name my 2nd daughter Guinnevere, but her Moher insisted on the more conventional( and mundane) Jennifer. Of course, I love her tons anyway Whitefang
  2. Checking Craigslist would be good. Or any other site that offers "used" stuff, like eBay, Gbase and such. If there's any pawn shops around your location, check there too since music stores that "buy and sell" might insist on proof of ownership since they'd recognize the value of those instruments better than a pawn shop. Best of luck tracking these scumbags down. We'll be pulling for ya. and keep us posted. Whitefang
  3. On we go...... Today, DAVID HOWELL EVANS, AKA THE EDGE, lead guitarist for U-2 turns 56 years old. Probably not the "greatest" guitar player out there, but clearly far from the worst, his style and musical "personality" surely gave that band it's unmistakable sound. And although I'm not all that much of a fan, the group has done a few I like a lot and The Edge's playing on them certainly makes them worth listening to. So...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Dave. Hope you get a NEW KNIT CAP! Whitefang
  4. I thought so too, until I threw out an RIP for some actor I thought just about everybody liked(forget who it was now), and got a lot of flack about it. I won't say by who. But I still see nothng wrong about it. Whitefang
  5. And thanks for suggesting it. And although not music related( I got reamed for THAT once) Happy Birthday to Lucy, too! We all love Lucy! Whitefang
  6. Y'know, my centering on b'days of the still living is one of convenience. Usually, and if the person is still active, their birthday might be announced somewhere. But looking up the birthdates of long gone and even some recently gone would take me more time on the ol' desktop than I'm both willing and able to take. But.... Just 'cause I STARTED this thread, don't take that as prohibiting. ANYBODY can contribute! So, if you happen to somehow know if it's Charlie Christian's b'day or something like that, feel free to come here and post it! Whitefang
  7. If you're referring to PRINCE, his b'day was JUNE 7, and not JULY 7, which is RINGO'S b'day. And I usually mention those b'days of those who are still with us(for some reason) Whitefang
  8. Well, so far it looks like you'll GET that chance. At his age, he doesn't show any signs of slowing down any time soon. I know what you mean about the strap. Not having anybody's myself, one of my daughter's boyfriends back in the early '90's worked for a local music store that supplied some gear for a venue in Detroit(Chene Park Music Ampitheater) and copped an autograph of B.B. King for me when he was doing a show there and the kid was one of the equipment handlers. Still hangs up framed in my living room! Whitefang
  9. OK, both Buddy's and Dhani's birthdays are past now, but I'll add another story I liked that concerned Buddy, but not really ABOUT him..... It was back in '68, I believe this took place, and Jimi Hendrix was in Chicago to do a concert, and when showtime was getting close, nobody could FIND him anywhere! A frantic search began and about an hour or so later he was found sitting in a downtown blues club watching and groovin' on Buddy! Nobody in the place had any idea who that oddly dressed cat WAS. Whitefang
  10. I was shocked at the resemblance in both sound and look when I saw him on some PBS tribute to George one night shortly after George's death. Whitefang
  11. AYRTON WILBURY is an alias of DHANI HARRISON. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DHANI HARRISON! Of ALL The Beatles' offspring, the one who MOST closely resembles their DAD! And NOT just in LOOKS! Whitefang
  12. And ANOTHER Blues great, ROBERT CRAY has HIS 64th Birthday today! I only havehis MIDNIGHT STROLL CD. So I got some catcin' UP to do! Whitefang
  13. That's cool info Jim. Jeff's a cool guy, good actor and I've heard him also sing and play. Does a good job at all of it. And I grew up on and still use a lot of those Jiffy products. Whitefang
  14. And I'm sure everybody HERE will wanna wish BUDDY GUY a happy 81st birthday today! Happy Birthday, Buddy! You're EVERYBODY'S "Grandaddy" in this place! Whitefang
  15. Thanks DBM. LOVE the Dregs. And hearing of a possible reunion is one of the BETTER gifts I recieved! Whitefang
  16. What does it matter anyway. The only town out that way I'm familiar with is Chelsea. And not much except for the JIFFY Co. there. And actor Jeff Daniels being from there. Whitefang
  17. 1st, as Steve is 3 years my junior, "womb mates" isn't even close! As to the quote: Indeed it is. From all I can find, George lives in BROOKLYN, MI, which is about 40 or more miles WEST of Detroit, near Jackson, MI. Out Jimmac's way, I think( ONE member here I know lives that direction) Whitefang
  18. Hey, Thanks! And I'll point out that STEVE MORSE turns 63 today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Steve! Whitefang
  19. Clinton did work (and without much success) as a staff songwriter and occasional music producer for Motown for a spell, but his "fame" really didn't come until a song he wrote for his group The Parliments, which he formed in New Jersey, "(I Wanna) Testify" made it big. And HE as the only actual member of that group ON the record, the rest not able to get to Detroit for the recording session. And his Parliment/Funkadelics group recorded under CASABLANCA records out of New York, and Clinton didn't find solo success until he moved over to CAPITOL records in '81 or so. Doesn't really matter though. He's a "Major music force" regardless of where from. Whitefang
  20. Actually d, it didn't. I get my info from the "horoscope" column in the Detroit Free Press, which admittedly does lack in it's enirety of celeb birthday listings. But thanks for the mention of Clinton, who surely deserves a "happy birthday" wish from all who like good music. What my being in "Dtown" has to do with anything is puzzling, since Clinton was born in N Carolina and came out of New Jersey. But the column DID mention today being the 74th birthday of legend MICK JAGGER. Who I hope DOES get some "Satisfaction" today, AND also gets everything that he wants. Whitefang
  21. Along with those doofs who wander around the arena in packs looking up into the crowd looking as if they're trying to notice who's there, or maybe who's noticing THEM there! Whitefang
  22. @Larry: The problem I've always had about going to concerts. There usually seemed to be a certain amount of idiots in attendance. Whitefang
  23. Hard to believe, but as I mentioned before, I remember when they opened for YES once and there was a HUGE bunch yelling for them to "Get off the stage!" Idiots. Heh! I'll bet over the years they snatched up all The Eagles stuff they could find and lied to their kids about how much they always LOVED them back in "the day" Whitefang
  24. And today(7/22/17) Eagles co-founder DON HENLEY turns 70. Wikipedia lists him as a "soft rock" artist! THAT'S gotta surprise a lot of his fans! Whitefang
  25. CARLOS SANTANA Who turns 70 today. Him and the band with his name churned out some great tunes in their time and Carlos still goes at it. Seems to be just no stopping him. Whitefang
