Now, for another round of humour... Former Pres. Bill and Hillary are at a Yankees home game, sitting in the first row, with the Secret Service people directly behind them. One of the Secret Service guys leans forward and whispers something to Bill . At first, Clinton stares at the guy, looks at Hillary, looks back at the agent, and shakes his head "no." The agent then says, "Mr. President, it was a unanimous request of the entire team, from the owner of the team to the bat boy." Bill hesitates... but begins to change his mind when the agent tells him the fans would love it! Bill shrugs his shoulders and says, "Ho-Kay! If that is what the people want. C'mere Hilly baby.." With that, Bill gets up, grabs Hillary by her collar and the seat of her pants, lifts her up, and tosses her right over the wall onto the field. She gets up kicking, swearing, screaming, " Bill you !^$ #@&!" The crowd goes absolutely wild. Fans are jumping up and down, cheering, hooting and hollering, and high-fiving. Bill is bowing, smiling and waving to the crowd. He leans over to the agent and says, "How about that! I would have never believed how much everyone would enjoy that!" Noticing the agent has gone totally pale, he asks what is wrong. The agent replies, "Sir, I said they wanted you to throw out the first Pitch!"

Pfft. I work at a call center, taking inbound CS calls. I can do anything I want between calls except play games....

Although, looking at the shopping cart setup, a 6 foot 48x1/4" snake at your prices would be over $500!

Now there's a cool option! I've been looking for a short snake with all 1/4" to interface my mixer with my HD24...

Geoff - After swinging to the extremes of what could be loosely defined as music (Throbbing Gristle, for example), I will say that I've really begun to appreciate the songsmithing in and of itself over the execution. Nowadays my regular listening rotation consists not only of bits like FZ/Mothers, King Crimson, Dream Theater, Mr. Bungle, and Chrome, but also more mainstream stuff like early Radiohead, first-lineup Uriah Heep, and even some of the more modern tongue-in-cheek fun like Weezer and Ben Folds Five...

Hi. My name is Scott "Griff" Griffin. I'm 29 years old. I've been a musician and a songwriter for longer than I can remember (damn that Mary Jane ) Seriously - I started on piano at age 4, picked up a guitar at age 17, and have been doing bands and solo projects ever since. I don't claim to be anything special vocally or instrumentally, but I pride myself in my songwriting and arranging skills. I currently operate under two project names - one is sequenced abstract electronica - Rhino Horn - and the other is a progressive rock/metal thing - mas Griffin. Rhino Horn has completed one album and is in process on a second, while mas Griffin is still plodding along on its first. My styles and tastes are spread wide, but I'm often accused of being a musical elitist because I cannot stand "comfortable" music - I need to hear someone pushing the envelope - regardless of how they do it. On a professional level, I'm a struggling mastering engineer (local bands don't even know what mastering is, never mind why they need it) so I'm also a retail salesman and hating it. I have a beautiful wife and a wonderful 4-year-old son whom I swear has enriched plutonium in his veins - the kid is wide open 16 hours a day, 7 days a week - he only stops when he sleeps. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. Good to be here - I'm really happy I stumbled over this place back whenever it was I signed up...

Hey - one more question for you: I've got a Fender Lead I that I just replaced hardware on - but I've discovered that the stock pickup is either too worn out or just not hot enough for my purposes. Any recommendations on a pickup with more output, but still functions well in the coiltap/split 'bucker configuration? I love having that flexibility to go into "Strat" mode - and I want a pickup that will sound good split. Cheers! Griff

Well, there's two things I wanted to accomplish by asking these questions. 1) Get a clearer picture of what to absolutely avoid in brands. 2) Gain a better understanding of how a given spec tube will affect the sound of the amp - especially in the power stage. I like the sound of this amp through a couple of cabs I've plugged it into - one was a Carvin 4x12, the other a late 60's Ampeg bass cab loaded with Celestion Greenbacks. Obviously, with the power tubes shot to heck, the longer it was on, the less I liked it. I really want to recapture the vintage Deuce sound, but I've little faith in Black Widow speakers or SovTek tubes...

OK, Myles - I'll throw one at you. I'm looking at replacing the speakers and power tubes (4x6L6) in my Peavey Deuce VT. Someone suggested Celestion Vintage 30's, which I'm leaning towards, for speaker replacements. If you have a different opinion, I'm all ears. More importantly, though, what brand and spec 6L6 should I use? Thanks in advance!
