  1. Wow, it feels like I haven't checked this thread for a billions years... :o lol

But if you feel differently, please feel free to check out my latest (sci-fi inspired) musical moment in a shape of a (short) composition called "A Lonely Probe". It's the first track you'd find in my "Wonderful MySpace Audio Player" at: http://www.myspace.com/vladabra

    Thank you in advance!

PS. Needless to say, any comments will go strictly to my private files at SPG secret archives. :)

Well, I listened again and you are probably right about "Falling Down"... But "Closer"... I still think it's closer to Genesis (especially if considering A Trick Of The Tail era) and jazz-rock overall.

And I would repeat again - great stuff. :thu:

  3. Poly, it seems that your songs belong to the stuff that I like very much... I am a well-known sucker for all things proggy! :D

I would say... quite Genesis influenced, but also with a fair amount of fusion sensibilities.

Great stuff. In the vein of best from the 70's indeed! Btw, your singer's voice (or was it you singing?) reminded me of Phil Collins, and that's a compliment. :)

The clip is very short so I'd like to get your impressions based on it. The entire piece is about 5 minutes. I have a couple of other compositions that are more of a jazz fusion style that I'm still considering of submitting instead, so your feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Mojazz, sounds very intriguing! :thu:

It's Here , and it's called Too Late for Echinacea.

I too, listened to the tune and it has that cool vibe a'la Tom Waits. Not what I usually listen to, but it's stylish and because of that - quite cool. And imo it even doesn't need that acoustic guitar part...
  6. Actually I'm glad you are not very upset because of my remark I did when I was in a bad mood...

No, my monitors are OK and I'm not into heavy metal. I just tend to confuse the meanings of these two words: "composing" and "arranging", really... Besides, you mentioned that you played live almost all of it... (And no, your playing doesn't suck.) So, my bad, sorry.

Well, here goes nothing. I've been composing the processional for my upcoming wedding and wanted to write something orchestral in nature, rather than my typical electronic, noisy weirdness. I figured my fiancee might appreciate that a little more than chopped up shortwave radio and distortion...

The problem is, I have no orchestration experience, no theory background, oh, and I've gotten rid of all my synths that have any kind of acoustic sounds in them. What to do?

Enter the Garritan Personal Orchestra ! This puppy saved my ass, and doesn't sound half-bad. Now I just had to figure out how to write this stuff.

So, with three weeks to spare, I've finished the writing and am working on polishing up the mix. Here's where it's at currently (be gentle...):

    Bleen\'s Wedding Processional

    Hey, nice orchestral ditty Bleen!

    But where are cymbals, timpani...?

You guys are a kind of impatient or what? ;)

When I posted my stuff here I waited for a couple of weeks until the first feedback came...

Well, anyway, Fonki... This is a fun piece but... It is like... without soul, you know what I mean? It's assembled and I'm afraid it sounds like that, nothing more, really. Leave that stuff for kids. Play some soul into your creation, don't play "LEGO", you are a musician after all.

You can call me a bastard now, I think I deserve that.

    :D
