This sounds awesome! As I understand you played all the instruments (except bass) and sang the verses, right?
-
Wow, it feels like I haven't checked this thread for a billions years... lol
But if you feel differently, please feel free to check out my latest (sci-fi inspired) musical moment in a shape of a (short) composition called "A Lonely Probe". It's the first track you'd find in my "Wonderful MySpace Audio Player" at: http://www.myspace.com/vladabra
Thank you in advance!
PS. Needless to say, any comments will go strictly to my private files at SPG secret archives.

When/if you'd have some extra time, please check out my remix of "Salala" by Angelique Kidjo (feat. Peter Gabriel). It should be here:

Thankska!

Clusterchord, I listened to Babylon and TechnoInsects and I liked what I heard. What's the name of the play and what's the main synth for Insects?
-
Hey, Hypnotuba, I listened to Prefixes and Springing... Pretty nice and humorous stuff!
-
Here is a new track of mine. It's not the final mix yet, but I hope it's getting close...
Abracadabra - Electric Tentacle My "tribute" to Ozric Tentacles.
Looking for your comments and critique, as always.
-
Thanks Ells! Yeah, that's me on all instruments (except drum loops, hehe).
-
O\'TAHT (Fighting The Nonsense). Performed by "Abracadabra".
I posted this tune on Guitar Forum first (it consists of quite many guitars ) but then thought - what the hell, it has one synth solo as well.
Any feedback and constructive critique will be highly appreciated.
-
Sounds really good, poly. ... Like an anthem to Moog!
Thanks for sharing it.
-
Nice song, Ells. Slightly reminded me of Tony Banks' solo stuff!
-
Hi Odyssian!
I listened to first two tunes, then something happened and they (geocities?) didn't allow me to proceed... But I liked what I heard. Some subtle HTM influences? Great stuff!
-
Well, I listened again and you are probably right about "Falling Down"... But "Closer"... I still think it's closer to Genesis (especially if considering A Trick Of The Tail era) and jazz-rock overall.Originally posted by Dave Bryce:I thought it sounded more like older Kansas actually, with Gentle Giant overtones.
dB
And I would repeat again - great stuff.
-
Poly, it seems that your songs belong to the stuff that I like very much... I am a well-known sucker for all things proggy!
I would say... quite Genesis influenced, but also with a fair amount of fusion sensibilities.
Great stuff. In the vein of best from the 70's indeed! Btw, your singer's voice (or was it you singing?) reminded me of Phil Collins, and that's a compliment.
-
Steve, your Mills is a cute little composition.
I like its jazzy feel and unpredictability, so to speak.
-
Phait (the King of Avantguard! ),
I'm afraid your latest opus is a bit too sparse for my taste...

Mojazz, sounds very intriguing!Originally posted by mojazz:This a short clip of a composition that I want to use for the KC Comp Vol. 9. It's a world beat/asian influenced piece.
The clip is very short so I'd like to get your impressions based on it. The entire piece is about 5 minutes. I have a couple of other compositions that are more of a jazz fusion style that I'm still considering of submitting instead, so your feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

I too, listened to the tune and it has that cool vibe a'la Tom Waits. Not what I usually listen to, but it's stylish and because of that - quite cool. And imo it even doesn't need that acoustic guitar part...Originally posted by Magpel:Here's a rough mix of a new song. It's kind of murky. I had intended to add acoustic guitar as part of the rhythm bed, but now I'm not so sure; think it might need cutting more than adding. TIA for any comments.
It's Here , and it's called Too Late for Echinacea.

DJ name generator is lame. Try to submit different names sharing the same first letter...
it would generate the same name over and over again.

Actually I'm glad you are not very upset because of my remark I did when I was in a bad mood...
No, my monitors are OK and I'm not into heavy metal. I just tend to confuse the meanings of these two words: "composing" and "arranging", really... Besides, you mentioned that you played live almost all of it... (And no, your playing doesn't suck.) So, my bad, sorry.

Sounds horrible to my ears.

Hey, nice orchestral ditty Bleen!Originally posted by bleen:Well, here goes nothing. I've been composing the processional for my upcoming wedding and wanted to write something orchestral in nature, rather than my typical electronic, noisy weirdness. I figured my fiancee might appreciate that a little more than chopped up shortwave radio and distortion...
The problem is, I have no orchestration experience, no theory background, oh, and I've gotten rid of all my synths that have any kind of acoustic sounds in them. What to do?
Enter the Garritan Personal Orchestra ! This puppy saved my ass, and doesn't sound half-bad. Now I just had to figure out how to write this stuff.
So, with three weeks to spare, I've finished the writing and am working on polishing up the mix. Here's where it's at currently (be gentle...):
But where are cymbals, timpani...?

You guys are a kind of impatient or what?Originally posted by Dave the Rave:Bump.
Not a single person listening/prepared to comment on my piece?
:DTR
When I posted my stuff here I waited for a couple of weeks until the first feedback came...
Well, anyway, Fonki... This is a fun piece but... It is like... without soul, you know what I mean? It's assembled and I'm afraid it sounds like that, nothing more, really. Leave that stuff for kids. Play some soul into your creation, don't play "LEGO", you are a musician after all.
You can call me a bastard now, I think I deserve that.

Wow, sounds like great melodic fusion to my ears! Good job, Linwood. The drums are a bit too loud though...
