Fully agree with you. The GS 73 is to my opinion still the best Korg option for gigging pianists. There is probably a market for these stylish 88 keys keyboards and the new GS x is now a good alternative to the Nordgrand. I guess Korg didn't want to compete against their own SV2 keyboard and decided not to introduce the GSx 73 keys version yet.

Yes, the mono recorded piano samples are actually pretty good as well. No compromise like with many other DP, but very well balanced acoustic piano sounds. Quite useful when only mono amplification is available. The GS is actually my new swiss army keyboard. The piano sounds are actually very good, but there is also a large selection of very good quality basses sound for your left hand whenever you play without a bass player. In most situations I don"t need any more to carry on a second keyboard for synthe Leads or string/pads as the GS provide every sound I really need for Live situations. I feel the GS as an overall improvement in term of sounds , ease of use and flexibility over my previous keyboards : like Nord stages...., Roland RD..., and Physis piano.

I decided to purchase the KP500s amplifier since the XL was delayed and wanted a little more power. I confirm that the expender effect on the KP500 is creating a nice sound for AC digital piano, Electro piano or organ instruments. It is a valid alternative to the space station specially for anyone (like me) who is disturbed with the painful need for finding the proper location for the space station sound optimisation. This amp is heavier but not only it is a great looking box and it is so much easier to use for Live performance with very quick set-up and satisfactory keyboard sounds. Just thought someone could be interested with my experience!

For AP digital piano, worth trying the Motionsound KP500s amplificator with the "expand effect".

Hi AlQuinn, it is not easy to record the SS3 output in order to demonstrate any Faital coax benefit versus the original coax. May be you would be interested to lesson to this recording extract taken from an iPhone of one of of a recent concert. I think that it gives a pretty good idea of how my SS3 with the Faital would enhance a digital piano sound in the context of a big band sonorisation in a poor concert hall acoustic environment . I hope it helps ......

Just to clarify your point cphollis. I mentioned in previous posts the clear benefit (perceived) after installing the alternative coax Faital 8HX200 for my Acustic piano sound. In fact I have kept it in my SS3 since, as this was an improvement for my music style (mainly jazz) . I understood from Cdom report (who did the upgrade as well) that the Faital didn't work for him mainly because of the Nord EQ changes that are required for the adjustment. To be clear, this upgrade bring some benefits but could be optimized .

Actually, just boosting the low frequency gain from my piano EQ successfully work with the Faital SS3 sound output. I get a well balanced and clear medium and high and also quite enough bass for accustic piano. Modifying the SS3 Width also helps but it is very sensitive and dependant on the speaker location in the room. I suspect that when using an external sub, boosting the low frequency for a good SS3 3D sound, would dramatically increase the overall bass level ( unless you can adjust it on the sub itself).

Thank you cdom for your feedback. I confirm from my 2 months experience that for piano and organ smooth jazz, the faital speaker brought a noticeable improvement in term of sound clarity and that I didn't perceive lost in the 3D effect. Yes I had to reset my sounds EQ to optimise the benefits. As I mentioned in previous message, some proper electronic filtering adjustment is probably required for the SS3 amp to comply with the new speaker characteristics. Looking forward for more testing.

No downside for my hears! Mainly getting better defined AP sound and some gain DB. Only doubt is about the bass. I possibly lost some bass but I cannot confirm it,(quite subjective and depending upon too many parameters outside of the amp) Low end is still good enough for AP in any case. A more scientific approach would be appropriate to draw any valid conclusion and may some slight pass band filtering tuning could also help Optimizing this new set-up

I was curious to try this Faital coax upgrade on my Spacestation. SO I ordered one 8HX200 and swapped it with the original Emminence speaker. It is almost a plug and play, the only modification required is to drill new holes to fit the new coax. The result is as predicted by Aspen. The richer sound from medium to high turns out to be a noticeable improvement, specially a better defined sound for Acustic piano. I don't hear obvious improvement for other instruments , organ or electro Acustic piano for example. The bass is actually not better, the difference is the addition of mixed high-Medium frequencies which may or may not be desirable. Could be good for Acustic bass but may be not for electric bass sound for which the Sub is required. The pass band filtering should probably be adjusted and optimized to Faital speaker specification. Overall I think that it is a significant enough improvement for anyone who is looking for a better AP sound. Not to forget, there is also a gain in term of power DB.
