AeroG33k
Well, since popcritic posts here regularly and we talked about me wanting to see her, I figured I'd share this with you guys. It was a bit surreal, I noticed my friend/apartment mate pass my room at about 5am to go to the balkony. I happened to be awake myself and was curious what she was doing there at this time so I followed. Turns out she couldn't sleep either and she had her computer with her to check on her favorite artists and bands. I told her to check out Kaki King because she'd like her. We checked tour dates, not expecting to see her close to here at all, but yup! October 10th, Iowa State University (I'm guessing at the memorial union, since it didn't mention any of the popular coffee shops/clubs). I'm excited! -Andy "I know we all can't stay here forever so I want to write my words on the face of today...and they'll paint it" -Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon)
Tedster
Ohhhh...ya better watch out You'd better not cry You'd better not pout I'm telling you why, Kaki King is coming to town... If she's coming to Kansas City I'll hafta go! "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Chad Thorne
I understand she's quite good. Never heard her. Andy, what's that semi-hollow (hollow?) Strat-type guitar in your avatar? (edit) Just found this on YouTube, Kaki King on Conan . Remarkable; obviously a young lady with few mental boundaries.
fantasticsound
Good for you, Aero. Wish she were coming to Nashville... or at least a bit closer than Atlanta. BTW - Whereabouts are you? I spent my freshman year of college in Iowa City. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
AeroG33k
I'm a sophomore at ISU right now, have lots of friends at Iowa City though. Chad, it's a Semi-Hollow Schecter CSH-1. Very nice guitar for the price! Doesn't have anything to do with a strat other than shape and scale though. It's set-neck mahogany/maple top with Duncan Designed "PAF" type splittable humbuckers. -Andy "I know we all can't stay here forever so I want to write my words on the face of today...and they'll paint it" -Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon)
popcritic
Guys forgive me, but I just had to share this. Her new cd is in the top 20 sellers at the big Amoeba record store in Hollywood: http://www.amoebamusic.com/tabid/122/Default.aspx Aero, her October show is the second time at ISU...she played the Maintenance Shop last year. Neil, I think Charlottesville is as close to Nashville as this tour gets. Tedster, they play a show in Lawrence KS: http://www.bottlenecklive.com/ Best to all-- Dave K. AeroG33k
Just got back from the show and I was blown away. It was amazing. I went with my room mate from last semester (he plays guitar too) and my current apartment mate/best friend (she sings and writes lyrics), and we left the show infinitely more inspired than we were before...so maybe we'll start to seriously work on material as opposed to just jamming around. But seriously, those little youtube clips do not do her justice at all, I am still smiling ear to ear (I may have a slight crush on Kaki now ) -Andy "I know we all can't stay here forever so I want to write my words on the face of today...and they'll paint it" -Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon)
