  1. Sounds like you are done - that they don't have the direction needed to move forward. Maybe meet and say what YOU want and see how that goes, but if you don't miss the other players it sounds weak.. Thanks Tom
  2. Hey - keep an eye on the neck. At this point it's probably fine, but a luthier I know has said that he's seen repairs on warped G&L necks. Looks SWEET (as you'd expect from Willie).
  3. Tim - sorry for your loss. I've had the honor to play with some great musicians where we had "that bond". And it is special for bassists and drummers. I recently played with Jack - the Stonefly drummer for 20 years (before we all disbanded). It was so easy - I missed that connection, so I might have an idea how you feel. I'll pray for his family and his musician community. My condolences....
  4. Leave it on that Scottish lake... Plenty of interesting songs on that album to do instead.
  5. Ah - if I'd have used this in any band I've been in, you could still smell the sarcasm...
  6. C'mon - you can do better than that. (wonder how many times that's been posted?) I've started a duo - probably play coffee/dessert places. A friend at work used a phrase that I thought would be great, but it's not the right vibe for us: Sarcastic Karma (the sarcasm you throw comes back to you) My buddy and I like the word "Acoustic" in the name. I'm now considering Acoustic Infusion Acoustic Color Acoustic Brew We did an open mic at an outdoor folk festival early on (I've played better). Note -the video quality is bad because I did different types of file conversions/tools and have no skills - the native version looks nice on my iPad... = Rescue Me http://youtu.be/edLVos6Pfjo = 5 O'Clock World
  7. Me too... Can't stay long, but I'm thinking about buying something. when that happens, I show up here...
  8. I listened to Jeremy Song 2 - I agree with Phil that the bass needs to be more up front. sounded good - supportive. JBFLA - like the up-front-ness of the mix. Again, very supportive and rooted. I like the bit of "warble" at the end. It would have been OK with me if you experimented more for the repeated refrains at the end, but I'm guessing they liked your steady, solid play here. Will try to find something I can post.... Tom
  9. Saw a poster for a band in Bernie's (Chester, NJ). The band is called "Not Enough Jeffs". this is very funny for me at work, because the CIO, one of his direct reports, and three other managers are named Jeff. When the CIO came to power, the CEO was named Jeff (CEO has since been removed). Tom
  10. I gotta believe spit valve was used before (especially given the tilt of our most prolific poster on this thread). I won't be doing any more research for my work-project (I put together a band to do entertainment at an upcoming company meeting). I came up with the name. In the pharma industry (I work for Pfizer), there are patented drugs and drugs that have outlived their exclusive patent. While Pfizer is mainly a patent drug company, I work for the division where they sell drugs that are either the "original" drug (under the original name) or the generic named drug. I played with a number of industry terms, but we all agreed the name should be: Off Patent
  11. Like trading an Arctic bird for sausage? A Tern for the Wurst. Well done - reminds me of a joke... While flying some marijuana into the US, some smugglers thought they were being targeted by a military plane. They dumped the load over a beach. Once in the clear they landed on the beach to try to recover their stash, and found a huge number of birds. In their search they found no tern un-stoned. Tom
  12. 30 lashes with a wet noodle for repeating a name. Yes - I have a side project and read about 10 pages (and may continue - some funny names!). That one stuck because my father spends his retirement fishing. Tom
  13. Paul - sorry about your friend. Funny about the Carvin being "cold". I felt that way about the first Acoustic Image amp I tried. Later I realized that it would take very little (like a SansAmp pedal) to warm the thing up. Let us know how the new stuff sounds. Tom
  14. This reminds me of when everyone in Stonefly worked together (some employees, some consultants). I wanted to call us Slaves To Idiots, but some of the guys were worried about their careers... Tom
