  1. I’d love to see some of them too but totally understand if you didn’t want to share. They’re great resources all the same and nice to see stuff like this is still safeguarded to a certain extent for future generations.
  2. Same here…pianos in churches in Ireland are a rarity. Organs yes but pianos no. You’ll find the odd digital piano but I wouldn’t turn up at a church gig hoping there’s a piano there.
  3. Hadn’t heard of Midi layers until I read it here. Am looking into aum but not having a set list feature is holding me back. Seems like this should do the trick with a bit of preparation. I did come across Sunday Keys which is very well laid out, as close to MainStage for an iPad as you can get. However it’s a subscription model which I really don’t like as in order to get use of “advanced features” (ability to load other Auv plugins) you need to sign up for the subscription model.
  4. I’m a bit confused? The B3X for the iPad installs from the Apple App Store. You just download/pay for it from there and it opens up on your iPad. The product manager is something you can install on your desktop/PC I think? You don’t install it on the iPad, or at least you can’t install it on an iPad. If you need to register the iPad B3X then I think you can create an IK multimedia account, log in and register it. I’m not sure you need to do this to get it running on the iPad. From what I remember I just purchased the B3X on the App Store and it downloaded and install on my iPad Pro? have you tried going directly to the App Store in your App Store app on the iPad? Thats where you get the organ app.
  5. SX/GX and Nord will work for piano. Nord 3 is newer by a good bit and has better organs but if I had to choose one that may include a little bit of layering on a song I’d pick the Roland. I’ve always thought the Nord was a disaster from a user interface perspective. Of course loads here love it. I use it every week for teaching in college and it never fails to frustrate me. I’d go for the Roland GX
  6. I was doing some research on a lighter board to cover most piano type gigs (musicals, jazz etc) but that I could hook up the iPad to if I needed extra sounds. The P225 looked good on paper but wanted to try out the newer action. I used to have the p115 which had the GHS action that I always found a compromise, especially in my MODX8 which I sold as the action was a dealbreaker over time. However in my P115 I thought it was better implemented, dunno why, just felt better. I’ve read similar feelings online about the P125. After much trawling through the woefully stocked shops here I found a place that stocked the 225 and tried it this morning. My immediate thoughts were the GHC is noticeably shallower when playing. It’s feels like it only depresses to 75/80% of the way before bottoming out. This was very disappointing as yet again it would be a major compromise. Yes, Im sure I could get used in time to it but I said that about the MODX8 but eventually I couldn’t live with that action. I really like to gel with the action rather than buying something and hoping I’ll learn to live with it. Pros: the sounds were really nice. The CFX is a noticeable upgrade in terms of sound, works beautifully and the dynamics you can get especially in the quieter region were very impressive. Not many sounds overall but the ones they had were nice, other pianos were tasty, strings were very rich, Rhodes was ok, wurly had too many baked in effects, usual DX voices too. I plugged in my iphone and tried a few apps. Seamless as I expected. Audio coming though the P225. I tried turning off local control to only hear the apps but it didn’t work, not sure what I was doing wrong? Anyway the usb interface is a major plus. While I was there I also tried the CK88 action and I have to say that action was much looser. Still don’t like that GHS as it felt like the implementation in the MODX8. They also had the Montage 8X, which I didn’t bother playing as it would have only depressed me with such a nice action. Not sure where to go now, maybe a used P125, one of the Casio Px3000/3100? I found the Casio action much better than the 225. Man getting a nice action in a lighter board that keeps me happy seems to get harder every time.
  7. A subscription model to me and many would come across as not exciting at all. The tone of the release seems a little more potentially “exiting for all”.
  8. Appreciate the quick reply. Yeah I thought it probably wouldn’t be as seamless. I’m working off the iPad Pro which is another one lacking the 3.5mm headphone out. USB C which I imagine involves dongle city. I have the CP73 and it works nicely with one cable like you have setup. Just looking to get an 88 note which is light ish and can connect to the iPad without buying another interface. 👍
  9. Reviving this thread as looking at some of these casio boards…maybe the 6000 or the updated 3100. Does anyone know is Bluetooth midi on these an ample substitute for an audio interface? I I know previous comments from Mike Martin said they didn’t have an audio interface but if I was using AUM on my iPad and connected to the 6000 via the Bluetooth midi could i have the iPad sounds coming through the 6000 outputs/speakers?
  10. I wonder how long before someone works out how to hack the hardware update and activate it without paying Roland?
  11. Few more resources in this thread: mostly books and dvds etc but might be useful to use in conjunction with real lessons as well.
  12. TonyMonaco is great. Definitely worth checking out. Another great player and excellent teacher is Frank Montis, Dutch player who can covers all aspects and genres of Hammond. https://hammondlessons.com. Do a search on the form for Hammond/b3 lessons as the question gets asked a lot and there are multiple threads on it.
  13. Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes the Flow was on my list..right up there in fact. The power cable didn’t bother me as I’d always carry a spare but I was afraid that if the app ceased to be supported I’d be left with a mixer of limited use as from what I could research the bulk of the effects are only accessible via the app? Do you know if you can assign reverb or eq to the channels without the app? Thank you.
  14. I think the Soul demos sound great and I like that they keep updating it. Happy Legend live owner here. Love the Soul too but the price hike is pretty severe compared to the Live. Enjoy the new board though.
