  1. I made the decision of starting my home life after my touring days were over. I still play live, but only a couple of times a month as a hobby now. Now, whatever Band Life I have has to fit into my home life, not the other way around- -dj
  2. I started using Nord keyboards back in 2011 for this exact reason. Both of my instruments are ~20 lbs. -dj
  3. Thanks for confirming this. What I didn't realize is that the settings are saved in the hardware. That means I don't need to reload the setting each time, which is what I was thinking. -dj
  4. Hey, if one of you could try a test for me with the Alto TS408. I am using the app to alter the EQ of the speaker. It seems to work reliably, but forgets the setting when the unit is turned off. When reconnecting to the speaker from the app after power cycle, it always reads flat again when using my custom EQ. If someone could confirm this, it would be helpful, thanks- -dj
  5. I just purchased a pair of these and tested them yesterday. Didn't notice any unusual noise floor at all- -dj
  6. I play mostly 80s and Top 40, so I use a Nord Stage 3 and Nord Wave 2. Covers the few piano/organ parts effectively and gives me essentially 6 synths. Just Dance by Lady Gaga has 6 synth sounds and I can cover them all with this setup- -dj
  7. My longest run was 8 years with my touring cover band, the Favorites. We spend more time with each other than we did with our families. We played 5-6 nights a week for the entire time. -dj
  8. Artificial Intelligence is not intelligent. It cannot really "create" anything. The algorithms are programmed by human beings with millions of if/then statements. AI will never replace real musicians. -dj
  9. When I was touring, we blacked out all the audience facing logos on all of our gear. It makes for a very clean looking stage- -dj
  10. I still have one of the original bags from the two Invisible stands I bought. It is still in brand new condition! -dj
  11. Back in my touring days, I had a Yamaha CP-70 and a Prophet 5. Those two went all over the pacific northwest, Canada and Hawaii. That was about $8k in 1985 dollars, not counting the playback gear. Now for my local gigs, I use a Nord Stag 3 and Wave 2, about $7k in 2020 dollars, but much much lighter! I would never think of using less quality (or less expensive, if you will) keyboards for gigging, I always want to have the best sounding and most reliable boards. -dj
  12. Amazon shows 2-3 weeks delivery for the 18880 and the 18881 stacker is available now- -dj
  13. I just removed the extensions from the top arms (upper board was not wide) and took the arms off completely when I stored the stand it the case. Then I slid the sleeve down to secure the bottom arms and locked it. The two top arms take up very little room in the case when removed. -dj
  14. I have had separate music gear insurance forever. It was necessary when we were touring, and now it gives me peace of mind for the gigs I do now. MusicPro covers full replacement value, been using them as well now for many years. It is reasonably priced and easy to update and amend your list of covered gear. -dj
