  1. from my understanding, theres no question as to their ability to do importing of sounds. ive seen from the bk5, that theyve added new core sounds and drums on different updates from the usb really easily someone even experimented by taking the update for the bk5OR, and going into the files of the update, and switching the rom file with the same named file on the update of the regular bk5 model, and run the update on the regular bk5, and now the regular bk5 has all the OR sounds and drums. and the bk5 doesnt even have the registration possibilities that we have on the vr09. on the bk5 to get new sounds, it was nescesary to update the whole rom. by the bk5 where we have the quick and easy registrations, it really shouldnt be an issue. the question is when roland will wake up and work it into the plan.
  2. Intresting idea about sampletank. Are any of the samples available on ad actually any good? Im using the attatchable stand that comes with the bk5. I think u can b it seperate. Its great, and compact. As far as the long mysterious atalier mode, i asked roland. Heres what they replied The import function can bring in registrations that are created on an Atelier home organ - this does not add any new sounds, but (like a registration in the VR-09) arranges and edits the sounds currently in the VR-09. If you have an Atelier organ that has registrations that you enjoy, you can now import those settings in the the VR-09.[/b]
  3. hey everyone. two questions: 1) wehre can i get an updated manual with how to use features in the new update? i cuoldnt figure out where to download it from? 2) i still havent seen any answer posted to what this means: does anyone have any idea? thnks
  4. Hiw can i set up midi on my yamaha s80, to control switching registratins on he vr09? Im completely new to setting up midi and dont know how to go about it. I would really like my 88 key keyboard underneath for more expression and freedom on the piano parts.
  5. I need to create a patch for shine on you crazy diamond by pink floyd. Origionally i wass gona do just the backing strings pad sound on the vr09 and the synthy brass lead on the microkorg, but in the end, since im having problems with the power connection of the microkorg,im gonna try to them both on split, on the vr09 one registration, using the ipad editor, to layer 3 sounds on the left(pcm's), and the right side for the lead. Can any of you more experienced payers help me in dialing in the correct settings on the vr09 to get he brassy synth lead sound? I tried following some settings online, but i just cant get it to sound right...
  6. There seems to be that problem with all the effects, that they don't smoothly come on. Theres a very noticeable jump from 0 to turning them on. Has anyone found a good way to get the acoustic piano to cut through the mix. Im still struggling with this.
  7. I also had a slider knob dissapear when carryng the vr09 one handed. Teyre sending me a new one. They come off wAy too easily. Im wondering how the update is. WS there any feedback on it? I dont have a computer now so i havent done the update yet myself. Just wondering what im missing. Whats the atalier solo mode????
  8. on the vr09 built in demo songs, theres a song called nightlights. i think its the second demo. theres an arpegiated sound playing in the background.does anyone have any clue if it was done only on the vr09 or together with an external sequencer? if so,any idea how to recreate it? i posted also on the roland blog, so im waiting for a reply from them also
  9. i always figured that every keyboard, when using the L/mono output, that the keyboard would know theres only one cable inside, and would automatically send out the sound mixed down to mono, correctly. would figure that all the midi stereo sounds were mixed to work with mono also. no?\\
  10. hey. i use my bk5 stand for the ipad. it fits perfectly and is even on the correct angle.
  11. Is it submersible? http://s6.postimg.org/juh4zqgkt/keyboard_underwater.jpg
  12. im trying to recreate the synth part for the song 'on the run' from pink floyd. i put a post in the forums for guidance using the micro korg, but havent had yet any good direction with it. i figured i could try posting it here in trying to use the vr09. im guessing that it could for sure be recreated with the ipad app, as i see there all the controls that are being used on the other synths which recreated this song. as far as the sequencer, there must be someway of doing that with an external ipad. is anyone up to taking the challenge, and making this song on the vr09 together with an ipad sequencer or how about some ipad app as a controller to do it all?
  13. ok. it would make sense that they should fix the pedal assign thing easily. i know on the bk5, (which again im comparing since they came out in consequent years, and seem to be in the same quality/prdocution range) there is an option for each particular sound, to save to that sound settings for the damper and expression seperately. whats a link to the roland blog again? i just tried created some synth sounds from pcm's with the ipad editor. well theyre really sweet, nice full sound. but i found that i can only bulid the sound from 2 pcms. if i try to add a 3rd,one, it seems like it wont let me, and no matter what pcm i add, i still just get a default type sound from the 3rd part. also i tried layering the sound in the editor, by pressing the 'split' key, in order to activate part 2 in the editor, and i find also there that im not being able to change the sound at all with adding pcms. am i doing something wrong here, or are the sounds limited to only 2 pcms overall per patch? thnks
  14. me too. ive been really enjoing this keyboard. and the simplicity of it, helps me to focus on actual playing. i really want to learn now about serious organ playing. and looking for a good place to start. is there any organ 101 tutorial? ive been experimenting with the chorus on/off and leslie on/off slow/fast and finding which ones are good for which parts. i still dont like how the leslie cuts so much of the volume off the organ and how it sits in the mix. i tried playing with some of the settings but still not finding out how to make it sit right. ive only been enjoying the leslie on more quieter mellow songs where the organ is well heard. i find i need to take off the leslie, and sometimes the chorus, if i want it to cut through the mix on more rockier parts. just plugged in my experssion pedal (moog). time to experiment with that. fun fun fun so after some experimenting i have a really important question. is there any way to set the damper and expression setting to be registration specific and not global? in other words, can i have the damper be set to leslie speed, and the expression to expression on registration 1/3, but in registration 1/4 to have the damper be set to damper, and expression to mfx etc. if not, has anyone reported this as an issue to roland? thnks
  15. ive actually been meaning to post recently but didnt get to it, that roland just a few days ago, released yet another update for the roland bk5, which totally blew everyone away with the problems they adress. there was a veyr serious flaw that there was no 'favorites' tone section which is a must for an arranger keyboard, but i had no clue how they could possibly fix an issue like that, since its too late to add new buttons, and it would be very hard to navigate through a favorites list, wihtout fixed buttons, but in the new update, sure enough they fixed that issue, and its super simple as if it were designed from the begining in the model, without any menu diving. in addition they also added yet another 3 sounds. so dont give up!
