  1. Totally fair to debate which team is better, Dodgers or Braves. Dodgers have a lot of question marks about their starting rotation -- a lot of upside but also a lot of risk, Yamamoto perhaps being the #1 question. Braves have both quality and quantity in starting pitching. I think people look at Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani and see a generational concentration of superstars at the top of the order, and the very spectacle of that might inflate valuation of the team as a whole. But then you see Muncy trying to play 3rd base and start to think about how much can any three players do to put a team over the top.
  2. Following up on my own post here to note that with theJordan Montgomery signing with Arizona, talent becomes even more concentrated in the NL West and that power of the 4 top teams becomes even more balanced. Monty is at best a #2 starter, but he's been very consistent (unlike, say, Blake Snell) and last year showed he could be a force in the postseason.
  3. It's not for me, but I think the ad is pretty cool. I'd like to see a new GO:Piano with upgraded sounds and 1/4" outs.
  4. There's no reason to be nasty. I gave the OP an honest review, including noting that the action is heavy. When it comes to action, people have subjective preferences. The one thing I'd say to the OP is that if you give up on the Go Keys before giving your muscles a chance to adjust, then you haven't really given it a chance. One thing I like about the heavy action on the Go Piano is that I can get back on a real piano after a week of vacation and not feel like I've lost all my finger strength. I can hear it now, "but vacations are for relaxing!" Ok, fine, you do you. Melodicas are wonderful. But often I find myself in a hotel room with my wife and kids asleep and I want to play with headphones. The Go Piano has maybe the quietest keyboard action I've found.
  5. Just glad this thread wasn't about something else.
  6. It feels like a huge amount of talent went to the NL West this offseason, particularly with developments over the past few days. Dodgers still seem like the best team in baseball, but both the Giants and Padres are potentially stacked with elite starting pitching, though of course a lot depends on the front of the rotation avoiding injury. The Diamondbacks were in the World Series, got better over the offseason, and still seem like the 4th best team in the division.
  7. I've had a Roland GO piano since they came out, I guess a few years now? It's gotten a ton of use in just the ways you describe: vacations, outdoor jams, etc. I think what endears this keyboard to me most is the feel of the keys, they've got a flat, low profile shape, are nicely textured, and for being non-weighted they have a solid, almost heavy feel. The heaviness takes some getting used to but once my fingers acclimated I prefer it to the lighter non-weighted actions found on most "travel" boards in this price range. Speakers are decently loud. The GO piano has a few useable piano sounds, the rest is crap, but that's fine for this purpose. Bluetooth is a nice feature. Casio of course has a bunch of keyboards in this category, in some ways better than the GO piano. Again, I prefer the action on the GO. But that's subjective. I also have a Yamaha CK61, which is a different tool for a different purpose: band rehearsals, not travel or outdoor jams.
  8. Playing in a quiet room with one (1) singer/guitar player is about the most the CK speakers can handle. It'll be loud enough, but just barely.
  9. As some have already said, there easy and and fun one-offs, and then there are ones where the effort is disproportionate to the fun. As a part-time musician, the latter just doesn't make sense for me. There's no point in me networking to get other gigs that I can't do anyway because the extra gigging activity will cause my wife to divorce me (which is where finances really go into the red). So for me this comes down to being able to predict which kind of one-off it's going to be. Usually a 10-minute conversation with the BL and ideally at least one other bandmember gives me enough information to decide.
  10. I'm done with "first impression" videos. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a 50th time . . .
  11. I was sorry they ditched the 44. My 64 is a bit difficult to move, not so much because of the weight (53 lbs) but also the bulk, and I don't have as much cushion in my spine as I used to back when I was hauling a real rhodes. Can't believe I'm writing this, but I may decide to sell my 64. It's just not getting that much use, and now that we have a piano in the living room, it doesn't even get much playing at home. With the increase in prices on new ones, I think I could almost break even in the used market.
  12. All By Myself feels like it's at the core of the golden age of popular music on AM radio. I sat down and played it this morning, what an exquisitely crafted tune.
  13. This one's more interesting, though I'm still confounded about what we, the viewer, is supposed to take away from it. With enough talent and fresh ideas you can turn a pop hit into a Snarky Puppy fusion thing. But then it's probably no longer a pop hit.
  14. I love this one, because most practicing lawyers understand the bar exam merely filters out some of the idiots but has almost nothing to do with being a good lawyer.
  15. The context is that people believe what they want to believe. I personally believe this forum is a trojan horse for the Australians to take over the USA. It starts innocently enough, with crowd-funded tours by Lachy Doley. Next thing you know we're all eating vegemite and pretending to like it. Nothing you say can make me believe this isn't happening.
