Even with all the "cheapness" from manufacturers this year, the quality of products at affordable prices is better than ever. You can get a VR-09 and King KORG and have almost everything a keyboard player would need as far as sound for a gig or studio for the price of a new Prophet 08. Throw in an RD-64 or new Privia for a few paychecks more and have something pretty darn portable that covers it all. For what you'd have to pay for a major synth purchase.
