Tracking Black Friday Sales 2021

Recommended Posts

Very nearly pulled the trigger on Neo Soul 2, but by the time I got to the final stage ... I aborted ... could not justify it..

What about Lounge Lizard by AAS? Usually goes on sale this time of year for US$99; just gotta wait a bit for the sale.

Thanks G.O. already have that (LL4) but it is just not "floating my boat" anymore. Especially after playing Neo-Soul on the iPad. And they have not really updated it for a long time. It's just got tired I guess.

I'm seeing a price of US$125 until the end of Nov 2021 for Neo-Soul Keys Studio 2, but the web page did load and show US$250 for a several seconds before switching to the sale price.

Very nearly pulled the trigger on Neo Soul 2, but by the time I got to the final stage of the payment with all current exchange rates etc, it was going to cost $191 AUD. So I aborted. Just could not justify it. Must be some wealthy people buying GM gear, that's all I can say haha!

I'll hunt around for a cheaper alternative. I can use the ones in ST4, but sometimes a project/song needs a specialist standalone.

I"ve recently opened the original Neo Soul and found I"d got what I want from that anyway. It"s a much easier interface too. Come to think of it, I probably spent too much time fiddling with the NSKS 2 interface only to arrive at the same place. That said, I tend toward VTines and Korg Module Scarbee, these days.

Thanks I'll have a look at those.

I picked up v2 for desktop a while ago to get their CP70/80 (I forget which it is right now). From this version they are now selling sample packs you can add to it as they come out. I"ll take a peek, see if anything they"ve done lately peaks my interest.

Just go the email from Gospel Musicians - 70% off on upgrades from the previous versions. You can go to Neo Soul Keys 2 from 1 for $75.

The sound expansions for Neo Soul Keys (like the MkVII library) and their other sample based instruments are are 50% off.

Just spent an unplanned $900 on winter tires... enjoy yourselves, friends.

Just had a convo on the forum a few weeks ago on unexpected roof replacement - including the decking. Like taxes, home and vehicle repairs are something we can always count on to screw up your plans.

That's really the time to do anything in your attic, like more insulation or replacing a bathroom fan, etc. Or even painting your trim before the new roof goes on. You just need good enough weather and a plan where you have a day or two between them ripping off your old one and putting on the new one. If they are replacing the decking you can just remove old sections where you need to do work, and will be able to stand up, with natural light.

I was going to start a thread, but this is so cheap it may as well go here:

Cherry Audio Memorymode

Software Synthesizer emulation of Moog Memorymoog - $39. Maybe they will also have a sale, but that's pretty cheap.

I second this as a ridiculously cheap WIN. I can drop certain sounds by one octave and the bass bin starts speaking up like my old Minimoog was at work. All of the sweeter stuff is there as well, so the tone is right on the mark. The effects are a big lift as well.

Native Instruments (of course) announces Cyber Season 2021

https://www.native-instruments.com/en/

Fortunately for me, I think I am caught up there.

Well, except they have been giving one plugin away for free right around Xmas.I think I skipped the last one, already had it or something. Last year or sometime thereabouts they gave away Raum reverb, a very nice sounding plugin on anything.

Keep you'r eyes open.

It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.

My main spot for checking for gear/plugin deals (which will include the Plugin Boutique) along with the many emails I get from various places after signing up for newsletters (or being a past customer).

https://www.reddit.com/r/AudioProductionDeals/

If it's inappropriate to post here on another forum, apologies and I'll remove it.

I've stayed mostly steadfast this year. I've picked up a couple things I didn't have to help with fixing "bad" audio but I'm sticking to my "no more instruments" rule. Not getting a new drum library until I know for sure the ones I have aren't that good (the Logic drum kits I don't care for that much)....not considering a new guitar plugin until I know I'm going to actually pick one up and practice more....not getting any more mixing plugins until I have more use for them! And so on. The theme this year is "do I NEED it" and so far I've been able to say "NO!"

I do have a couple on a wishlist, mixing plugins: TDR's Limiter 6 GE (I have several of their plugins, they are very good) and Kazrog's True Iron saturation/color plugin. Neither are very expensive to begin with but gotta go for sales! Edit: speak of the devil: TDR's entire range is on sale, I notice. I have Katelnikov, love that compressor, very transparent. Definitely getting the limiter if nothing else.

But if some truly monstrous deal comes along I might cave, so far nothing quite that good has. The 8DIO current deal is tempting (60% off, anything over $200 after discount gets a free choir library) but frankly I'm not composing for movies or games.

I'm with you on this one. Izotope did a "upgrade to RX8 for $99 and get a free upgrade to RX9 when it comes out" thing and I did that. I haven't used RX at all yet but I know that I will be and so many recommend it highly.

It is sort of a janitorial program to clean up audio, I doubt my recordings will be flawless so it will be used.

I'm not only NOT buying plugins, I am thinning the herd. Moving to Big Sur (and probably to Monterey soon) has eliminated my SampleTank 3 libraries but I still have the voices I really liked (Clavitube, Alternate Keys).

I never even tried any of my Brainworx plugins but the interfaces were so "knob happy" that I just skipped them, don't know what I was thinking when I bought any of them, probably that the sale price seemed good Gah!

Less is more with plugins, I've added a couple of rack mount analog compressor limiters and a Lexicon MP550, maybe more stuff gets done going in. I hope so.

It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.

Yeah, some of my favorite Plugin Alliance plugins (sound-wise) have the 3d knob action that makes no sense on a computer. It probably helps those with decades of experience on the particular gear it looks like, but I'm not a fan.

Definitely the not-so-distant-future move to M1 macs--and any new computer at all--makes it better if I stick with less developers. Just way less hassle to re-install and re-authorize everything.

My wife just got a new 16" MBP for her work, I have to say I'm jealous :) I don't even want to know how well it performs (to be fair, mine does fine).

I got a wild hair and am pretty close to getting the Soundtoys Effects Rack despite what I said earlier. This partly because I have some gig money burning a hole in my paypal account! :D. If I hadn't bought Valhalla Delay it would make more sense (because Echoboy), but more delay options is not a bad thing as I use it so much. I've heard great things about Soundtoys and all the various plugins in the suite and despite their age I think I'd get a lot of use out of them. Speaking of Valhalla, everyone should check out the free SuperMassive (the plugin that led me to buy Delay out of guilt, and between the two I get more use than almost any other plugins!)

I have ONE Plugin Alliance plugin that I LOVE. It is a red guitar amp head made by Chandler. That one actually sounds and feels like a great tube guitar amp and gets beautiful mid gain singing tones. $30 on sale and well worth it, no regrets even though knobs. Just a few.

I had Valhalla SuperMassive, maybe I need to update it. If I recall correctly, Big Sur bumped it - I did just buy a refurbished M1 Mac Mini with 16 gb RAM and 512 gb SSD, it was under a grand and it rocks. Smokes my 2014 MBP with the same states, just eats it's lunch.

Valhalla did update for Big Sur--I'm way back on HIgh Sierra still due to a long-running project. Once that is done I'll *gulp* update. (Actually looking forward to seeing some of the new stuff in Logic Pro, I can't update it until I update the OS.)

PA has some good stuff. I like both their Oberheim and Thorn synths, and various mixing plugins, as you say despite the knobs :) Probably the least sexy yet most useful plugin I have is "Metric AB", which is a plugin that helps you reference your mix against sources, with level matching and song position matching (ie, compare a soft verse to a soft verse) among other features. I've paid a max of 29 bucks for any of them, a lot less for a few.

A temptation I wasn't expecting: a sale from u-he.

You have to fill out this survey: https://survey.sogosurvey.com/survey1.aspx?k=RQsRVSUVsRQsPsPsP&lang=0

Afterward you get a 25% off coupon--not earth-shattering, but their stuff rarely goes on sale and (IMO) it's very good. And the copy protection is very consumer-friendly, which is a big plus.

Ahhh, thanks for that! I'd been hoping to pick up Diva or Repro this year, and that just did the trick! Couldn't decide, so I splurged & went for them both.
