Leadsheet Request: Ave Maria by Franz Schubert

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I will be playing at a wedding with a violinist, and the couple has requested that we play "Ave Maria" . It would make my life much easier to work from a lead sheet with chords and melody, in the key of G if possible. Any help with be much appreciated. Thank you !

Check your PMs... Sorry not in G!

[EDIT - Ha ha I guess I didn't read the full text of this thread title - or did you edit it? PS - why not have the violinist read from your chart instead of you doing the work to transpose? Or, can/will you use the.... BUTTON? I won't tell! :)

Thank you Reezkeys, the chord changes and melody seem good so I'll just transpose and make my own chord chart. . For better or worse I won't be able to use the BUTTON, because the wedding is taking place at the grandparents house and they would love to hear their baby grand in action, even by a hack like me who has to fake a part from a lead sheet! Thanks for saving my backside.

Not sure on the page length of the one you have, but I have a 2 page version I created for my use...it's in C

There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence...

I don't know about you guys, but when I get a solo piano Christmas gig, I enjoy playing Ave Maria (in Ab) as though it were a GASB standard, and improvising on it like a jazz tune. Challenging, but fun. I always wonder how this song goes down with people - nowadays it's often sung with the lyrics of the Roman Catholic prayer to the Virgin Mary. (not the original lyrics btw, which I believe were more secular). Thus, I wonder how non-Roman Catholics feel about it. I'm 99% sure no one cares. But still I wonder. I think it's a great melody.
