jazzpiano88
Must've been something having live entertainment on flights back in the day. You don't see that anymore. It looks like a a custom job to make the Rhodes airworthy, yet cool. The Real MC
That piano is just a student model, nothing custom. Some planes had Wurlitzer pianos too. When I was a kid my family rode Amtrak Auto Train to Disneyworld back in the early 1970s. I distinctly remember a Rhodes piano in the lounge car. I had heard that one President wanted it ripped out of Air Force One because it had an input named "Mike". SteinwayB
Around 1970 I remember flying to Europe and there was an electric piano in 1st class that I played. I was about 9 years old and was playing classical then.

EricBarker
Forget 747s, let's talk Zeppelins. Lots of shots of the grand piano on the Hindenburg and Graf. I would literally risk exploding into a fireball to play that piano! And a small aside, did you know Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickenson, besides having a history PhD, and and being an active commercial jet pilot (who famously captain their 747 on their tour), is also the CEO of the largest dirigible company in the world and a leading expert on lighter-than-air travel? He was even interviewed in the science section of The Atlantic a few years back, in a panel on the future of dirigibles. Seriously, if the next Maiden tour isn't done by Airship, I'm going to be seriously disappointed! Quote Puck Funk! In academia, most people don"t sweat the distinction between honorary and standard PhD. In fact, it"s usually considered a bigger honor than getting your degree in the traditional manner. It"s still a PhD. And from the article, yeah, he"s a busy man and the main investor, but he"s also a big idea-man, and it was pretty clear he was in there talking with the engineers and had a lot of experience in the whole enterprise. Guy is a total nerd, and when he dives in, he dives in deep. I"ll see if I can dig up the article, may be behind a lay wall though. It was extremely long, dickenson"s section was the third interview of 3 company leaders. Quote Puck Funk!
