We've opened this forum back up with George Massenburg's permission because we noticed a pretty steady stream of traffic here.

When we first started MPN, this was one of the most popular forums. There is some pretty amazing content to be had here, even if some of it is a bit dated; however, it's pretty unlikely that George will be spending much time here at all.

Anyone is welcome to post in an existing thread, or create a new one if you'd like... cool

I'm sorry I missed it back in the day. George Massenburg is a big idol of mine, being a big Little Feat fan. Let It Roll is still my primary reference album for testing speakers, headphones, and sound systems.

"How long will it take me to master Aikido piano?" a prospective student asks.

"How long do you expect to live?" is the only respectable response.

When this forum was active, it was awesome.

IIRC, it was one of the most heavily trafficked forums on MPN when the doors first opened twenty years ago.

Yeah, I started looking back through the archives a month or two back, and had sent some links to some people in a few cases.

I am sure some other people may have been looking as well, with nothing to do with me at all. Extra time on our hands.

I've been skimming from back to front. Learning some things, skipping stuff about DAT and other obselete stuff I don't care about.

Best thing so far is George Massenberg's 4 Laws.

The four 'laws' are:

1. Show up.
2. Participate.
3. Always tell the truth.
4. Let go of the end result.

5. Never, ever make excuses.

Good stuff!!!!

It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.

I remember back in the day there was a contest for a GS 410 speaker cabinet . if you logged in daily you would be entered for a chance to win. smile

I still troll the forum for "DAT and other obsolete stuff" because I still use DAT (pcm 7040) to master and I use a 16 track SSD recorder to track. not a fan of DAWs and am stuck in the days of analog.
