Just checked the website - there is a TA61, but not a 60. Is it a current model? The 61 seems to be a poor man's 355, with the Varitone clone and all. A buddy of mine was a dealer for this brand, and he maintained the best ones came from Japan, not from other Pacific Rim countries. This was a decade ago, and things have changed, but for $800.00 I'd look for a used Guild Starfire or a worn 330. You can also look at Yamaha in that range. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/fingers/fing02.gif
Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!

This is a TA60, Reif, and it doesn't have the varitone.

It's on Ebay UK and is currently about $80.00. If it stays under $200 I may have it. And I think there's a good chance of that.

I'm looking for something like this to put a couple of GFS Vintage Liverpools, to get that old Gretsch-type 'clash' sound.

I just enjoy mucking around with different things & sounds.

This is quoted as being 'post-88'.

It looks OK. Body joins neck a couple of frets further up than a 335, and the body looks a little smaller. Could be neat.

Here\'s the Aria. They were better built then, although a '79 to 84 would have been better.

I'm also watching this.

Actually the better Hohner (Professional) guitars are vastly underrated.

One of my basses is a Hohner JJ Professional J Bass clone.

It has a 2 piece dark maple body with back loading - no scratchplate, and has active EMG pickups.

I tried a DiMarzio (If you read my stuff you'll know I'm a fan of DiMarzio) in the bridge position, but was dismayed to find the EMGs blew it away in every respect.

The only thing I didn't like was the one (1) piece maple neck which was more of P Bass proportions.

This was remedied by buying a 70s Japanese J Bass neck off Ebay, modelled on the 60s real slim version.

I have added black nylon-coated strings, and it is now perfect as far as I'm concerned.

The JT-60 (GT-60) is another interesting Hohner - find it in Harmony Central - same body shape as Jazzmaster/Jaguar with Strat pup setup and fancy switching.
