Okay...thanks to A String (of Lights) who helped me sort out my FTP problems.

Here's the work thing for my parody of The Twelve Days of Christmas

Like I said...there are some sync/timing problems with it, as it was one of my first attempts at overdubbing with no click track...so trying to guess when to come in at the pauses was tricky...and I hadn't mastered the "edit" portion of Cool Edit Pro yet. The initial tracks are long lost (probably on another hard drive somewhere if at all)...

Have fun with it if you want...

So can I, but my duckies have issues.

Hey, I was 16 and stoned, what do you want?

OK, I recorded God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, but I'm having problems with Cubase cutting out and messing up the audio etc. You can listen to this one until I record a better version. I think I may just re-record it with window's audio recorder. I wouldn't have posted it, but I think it is a neat arrangement.

Here's the one I had done last year: Have yourself a merry little Christmas

I still have a copy of that one on my computer. To be honest, I have several of your songs...Sort of a "Pauldil library" going on. It gives me something to aspire to.

Me too. I was putting up lights outside yesterday and was humming your rendition most of the afternoon.

Hi Bill,

When you're on the song page on putfile:

Click "view" in the task bar of Explorer

Click "source"

A notepad will pop up with lots of text.

Press Ctrl F (a search screen appears)

Type in mp3 and click "search"

You'll find the URL with a direct link to the song

Copy and paste this link into your browser.

If you open this link with Windows Media Player, now you can save it.

Hope this helps.

Paul

I've re-recorded God rest ye, but I need some mixing advice. It sounded too tinny so I added some effects and now the lows sound muddy and the highs are a little bright.

This seems to be a common problem I have with acoustics. Any advice would be great.

Oh, I moved it to DMusic so Scott could get at it as well.

[EDIT: It's only 319k. I made it a mono file to better accommodate dial-up users.]

I have trouble with putfile, too. Some work, some don't

Mac with the latest operating system and the latest Windows Media Player - wondering why others don't use Quicktime!!

  • 3 weeks later...

Wow, nice work fellas! :thu:

My computer doesn't recognize the putfile format (I'm on a Mac), so I didn't get to check those out. :(

Of the ones I did get to hear:

A String - nice canon, I thought it was delay untill the harmony lines came in. I've always wanted to do something like the Bach Inventions on guitar...

Fingerstyle Jim - never thought about Fleminco Christmas music before, very cool.

Scott Jones: I dig the matix style Drummer Boy

...and last, but certainly not least Tedster Claus! That one made me roll! :D

Here's my contribution, it was a session that I did a few years back with country singer Pat Green. I've never posted clips before, so tell me if this doesn't work...

Sorry about putfile not working. Try these links (although my SBC site has also had problems in the past):

Santa Claus is coming to town

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Winter Wonderland

GtrWiz, Thanks for that great addition! My Christmas music folder is growing.

squ Very nice. I heard a lot of different influences on "This Christmas".

Rhino Madness Thanks for the very nice comments! Great tone on "White Christmas", BTW! :thu: I could never pull it off like that!

I recorded these back in 1993. I was working night shift and needed to do something to get out of bed in the morning.

A little lullaby for all y'all: Away in a Manger

Some light jazz: Silver Bells

For you rockers: Little Drum Machine Boy ;)

These links expire in seven days, and there's a bandwidth limit, so if the link fails, let me know.

New Year's Resolution: Domain host :o

Okay...a bit of background here...this is very hastily prepared stuff. There's a lot of stuff if I was doing a proper CD I'd clean up. Basically it was recorded for my grandson Preston to listen to. He's 3 1/2, and he doesn't care if one vocal take is a bit rough, or the guitar in the left channel isn't loud enough or if I blow a bass note. I decided to do it about a couple weeks ago, which meant squeezing it in between everything else I've got going on. I'll do better takes next time, but keep in mind, it's aimed at a very young listening level...

My son Drew on drums, and me on everything else...

I promise I'll do better next time...
