I've noodled on one of those. The fan frets actually feel very natural. No issues as far as reaches and extended chords.

there are differences in feel caused by the whole layout of the guitars, my LG has 24 frets so the neck has more exposed playing area as compared to the new LG's with 22 fret necks. this would make a F# on mine feel like the open position on the new LG's. the bridge is closer to the neck end of the body on the 24 fret LG's. most guitars have a difference in layout and i suspect this is causing some of the changes in feel that we are blaming the scale for. the strap pin of a LP is at a different fret than a strat, which makes the whole neck shift in relation to our body.
