Intellectualizing one's taste

....ever try?

OK, I don't understand why thin brunettes will have me walking into mailboxes while beautiful boxom blondes don't fizz on me, but musically I've tried to figure out why I like what I like, or what it is about what I like that I like.....

Rory Gallagher, R.L. Burnside, Lightning Hopkins, Johnny winter, Muddy Waters, Jack Johnson....can't get enough...

Zeppelin, Hendrix, Rolling Stones, ACDC, Modest Mouse, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits...have some stuff I like, have some stuff I don't like.

R.E.O Speedwagon, Brian Adams, Bog Seger, Deep Purple, Post Cream Clapton...don't like, not saying it's bad, just doesn't do it for me.

Won't bother getting into today's pop.

Looking for a common thread to my taste (yea, it's generally bluesy, but I'm not sure that's it, I also love some lounge jazz and world music)

JOHN: We don't even understand our own music.

SPIDER: Does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us ... strength.

JOHN: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it.

SPIDER: No, I don't think so, because -- see I think, I think our strength comes from our uncertainty. If we understood it we'd be bored with it and then we couldn't gather any strength from it.

JOHN: Like if we knew about our music one of us might talk and then that would be the end of that.
