Blue Strat
I pulled a pair of Jensen 15" speakers out of a homemade 2 x 15" cab that someone gave me. They're lighter weight than any ceramic magnet 15's I know of and the date codes on them would put them sometime in the mid 50's or 60's (I'm betting that it's the 60's). They're 8 ohm speakers, with a deep, ribbed & seamed cone, paper dome voice coil cover about 1.5" to 2" in diameter, and there's a rounded metal magnet cover on the back. I can't wait to stick one of these in my Peavey Delta Blues! BlueStrat a.k.a. Blue Strat
The magnet cover is held on by a single screw on the back. I just checked under the cover and it's a ceramic magnet, but it's no where near as big as a modern 15's magnet. The Jensen sticker is blue and silver and has Jensen Concert, made in Chicago, USA on it. And no, I don't want to sell them. I am however giving away the speaker cabinet, if anyone is interested. All ya gotta do is tell me you want it and we'll arrange a meeting somewhere in the Rock Hill, SC area. BlueStrat a.k.a. picker
IS the cabinet open back or closed, and is it total crap or only partial? Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
freddynl
Your description look like a 15" Jensen which was in the cabinet of an early Fender Showman. I had a blond 1962 in the sixties containing a look a like speaker. gigging favorites at the moment LP Special order 1973 and PRS custom

The cabinet is closed back. The wood is good and solid, not sure if it's ply or not. It's been covered with vinyl on the outside and it's got insulation on the inside. It's a ported cab, 48" x 24" x 16" deep with a 4" port. Black vinyl with brown grill cloth. I got rid of a Leslie speaker cabinet the same size because it was taking up too much space and I didn't really use it much, so it wasn't a tough decision as to what I was going to do with this cabinet. It's going bye-bye! BlueStrat a.k.a. "El Guapo" ...Better fuzz through science... http://geocities.com/teleman28056/index.html
Blue Strat
My speakers have teal frames with a dark gray magnet cover. The magnet structure looks more like the magnets on the 12" speakers at the top of the page linked to, but the frames look more like those on the 1958 Jensen 15" lower on the page. http://www.oaktreeent.com/Vintage_&_Original_Guitar_Amp_Speakers.htm BlueStrat a.k.a. Ricochet
Be careful. Most speakers back in the '50s were rated for lower power levels than modern speakers. I'll bet those aren't rated for over 15W. "A cheerful heart is good medicine."
