Caevan O’Shite
That's great, Mr. Shoes! I'm glad for ya! As you and I live sorta kinda almost not all that really far away from one another (most Guitar Forummites liev further away from me than you do), perhaps one fine day's night we'll get to jam a little, and you can (if you're so kind and so inclined) let me have a respectful look at the ol' paddle. Maybe by then I'll have been able to get the ol' '52 that I've been mentioning here, as well! That'd be cool... then we'd have to go meet Lee and we'd be in our own friendly little club, the MP Guitar Forum members with '52 Les Pauls Club! Hmmmnn... there's gotta be some N.A.F.TA. incentive-provision for that... Shoes
That sounds like good idea for a song.... We do need a geographic breakdown (which is a good idea for a bluegrass song) of where the hell any of us lives. Hmmm smell a thread starting here. I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder. fantasticsound
Hey, Guitars-are-like-shoes, any answers to my questions in the PM?? Or am I going to have to visit my buddies at Gibby Customer Support?? I know this is far from a done deal, but I'm interested who they suggested you speak to at Valley Arts, more than anything else. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
Dave da Dude
Hey Shoes, have you bought this yet? Go for it! Like my boss (he's a motorcycle nut and we swap stories about each other's obsessions) said, "You can't play a car." Gotta' geetar... got the amp. There must be SOMEthing else I... "need". That bridge, and truly vintage or vintage sounding P-90 "soapbars" go hand-in-glove together for SUCH a GORGEOUS tone!!My thoughts are that anyone with the original '52 Trapeze tailpiece problem should switch to a Bigsby tremolo. Good for that rock-a-billy tone too! BlueStrat a.k.a. Shoes
I figured I had no way to "redirect" the amount of cash required to close this deal without Mrs. Shoes catching wind of it. So tonight I came clean and she had a few choice words for me... verbal abuse ha... I'm a man! I have selective hearing Anyhow... I'm heading out after work to pick it up and then it's off to Toronto a for business trip which will include a stop at the Twelfth Fret to have them give it a once over with the proverbial fine tooth comb. (that's from the Cole's Notes version of the Bible) Given my shoe drawer looks like this... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v258/pek63/stuff.jpg Little chance I'll modify the thing and Valley Arts have given me a rough quote on a customized vintage restore finish and it was less than I expected. I HADN'T BETTER FIND ANY UNFORESEEN ISSUES WHEN I GO TO PICK IT UP! If you know what I mean.. Too much time, thinking, negotiating and wife abuse to have this go to shit on me. I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

Don't let external validification become a G.A.$.-y monkey on yer back! I love mine, but, truthfully, I might have been better off buying a PRS McCarty, or a Hamer, or one of those new Yamahas. It's not the brand 'n' model 'n' year, it's the fit between a specific guitar and player.
