Thanks SJ, but the strings I have on my LP now will last me a couple years, plus I have a back-up set of DRs just in case. My last strings lasted about 16 years (mostly in a closet). A box of strings will last my great grandkid's lifetimes. ;) If I played more (which I should, but I unfortunately don't have the time), I would probably have endless options (e.g., strings, cables, picks, stomp boxes, straps etc.), but I haven't won Lotto and the 20 month old didn't get her scholarship into Harvard YET. :D

Thanks. That was suggested one time and although it looks pretty cool, it wouldn't be worth it for me. The problem is I don't play enough to need anything from Sweetwater. It's almost like billster winning New York Yankee tickets. The problem is, he lives in MA and he doesn't like winning teams, so the tickets would basically be useless to him. (Hi billster!! Did you miss me? :D ) FYI this is one of many inside jokes between me and billster (although he's not aware of them) and I don't watch baseball much anymore, nor do I care who wins or loses the World Series. PLUS I just like breaking billster's chops. :D

Throw another $60.00 on there, and get yourself a Line 6 Guitar Port. You'll wind up playing a lot more! Check out what all they'll do; I'm definitely going to get one, just because of the internet applications it has.

Also, get yourself a pair of AKG K-55 headphones; they'll dramatically improve the listening/playing experience with just such a modeling/computer/internet device. Relatively cheap, and as they have an inherently emphasized bass-response, they sound great for guitar 'n' bass duties. Waaay better than computer speakers or the usual dinky little crappy headphones most folks have!

Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do?

I wasn't complaining at all, just stating a fact, but here's a glimpse at my "normal" work day when I'm not travelling for work:

1) Wake up around 5:30am.

2) Get home from work at around 7:30pm on a normal day.

3) Eat dinner, help my 6 year old with homework and play with my 20 month old before 8:30pm or 8:45pm (their bedtimes)

4) Do some work from home (e.g., conference calls with west coast clients etc.), do what the boss (aka wife) has on the "Honey Do" List and go to sleep around 11:30pm.

5) Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Please fill in the requisite guitar time as you deem appropriate.

I can solve all your problems, Cosmo.

Just hire someone to do all that stuff on your list, and then you can spend your day having fun all the time.

Of course, I'm not sure how you're going to pay for all this help, but hey, I never said I could solve all your problems, now did I? :P

Negotiate the "Honeydew" list.

  • Up at 5:30
  • trundle to work (and munchkin to daycare if appropriate)
  • reverse step 2
  • dine with family
  • clean child, return to his own bed
  • pay bills, clean the kitchen, pay other bills, rah rah rah
  • hide in music room

OK, so I don't have west coast clients, but even a 1/2 hour clears the head. I hate Nike, but just do it

Which is why I had the Lotto and Harvard scholarship comments above. ;)

Cosmo, why don't you sell it to someone here for $80.00? That way, you can do what you want with the dough, and, since Sweetwater has about a 20% price differential to discount dealers, it will be win/win. :D

"For instance" is not proof.

OK. Send the PayPal payment to..... :D

Unfortunately there is no market for $100 Sweetwater gift certificates on eBay. FYI I also considered buying an iPod or something from them and selling it on eBay, but it's not worth the time or effort right now.
